Without wanting to tempt fate if we do achieve promotion and Fulham/Derby go down would any of their players interest us ?? Bullard would be an obvious target but maybe too expensive while Brown and Konchesky are both solid players.
Thing is, teams like those get relegated for a reason. I'd say Derby have no one of worth and Fulham have one remotely class player in Bullard who will go for about £4m to an established Premiership club.
I would have thought that a more relevant question would be who we will lose if we don't get promoted? Sh1t, CJ wont join, Hendo, Smudger? Unfortunately Ellinglump wont be going anywhere apart from another session on his prayer mat.
Looking at the Fulham team, there is about 10 of them who would make excellent additions to our team, which sums up how hard it will be if we do go up as they are still $hit. From Derby, Barnes and Miller are the only real quality players and Barnes has not really proved yet either. Both would go to much better teams than us though.
Because they would still be better than our players so with increased coaching etc would give us a better chance of survival e.g. Moritz Volz is cack but would be an improvement on Doyley, Niemi would improve on Lee (only just!), McBride would improve on Henderson, Simon Davies on O'Toole, and so on
1 player doesnt make a team. take a look at us, have some good quality players, but were not performing.
I see your point, but the improvement would not be sufficient, we would end up with a team in the bottom three of the prem and I think the lads we have could manage that
