Learn on an automatic like @The undeniable truth says. With electric cars that’s the way things are going anyway.

Even if you don’t need it in town, a license is great for getting to see the glories of the UK countryside.

I’m always amazed anybody can afford driving lessons these days.

    Nearly £40 for one.

    Welcome to rip off Britain.

With the huge profits they must obviously make, maybe driving instructors could use a bit of it to compensate for holding up us proper drivers while their hapless students fanny about at 5mph.

My question was tongue-in-cheek somewhat more existential than that!

Johnny Vaughan is brilliant - listen to his show everyday whilst making dinner and the family come in and ask why I'm roaring with laughter.

The music itself is generally indie dirge and gets in the way of proceedings.

By rights, he's exactly the sort of relic of 90s lad culture that I should loathe, but he just lands with me.

More hassles caused by Brexit today, making life so much harder for so many honest, hard-working people.

My kids had 5 lessons then it's out with Dad on learner insurance.

The law should be changed to prevent learners being anywhere near major roads in rush hour.

There's a long straight stretch of completely residential road near me where the driving instructors take their pupils to practice reverse parallel parking, reversing round a corner and just general pulling and moving off safely.

Naturally I enjoy doing speedy running sessions down there in the road and watching as they grind to halt and get stuck in a loop of indecision as I go up and down :D I feel I'm doing them a favour really as if they can't hack me presenting a slow moving highly visible hazard on a v quiet road, they've no hope out there in the big scary world.

Used to live on the Cassiobury estate (parents house) and the roads there were littered with learners constantly.

sounds cheap to me. How much to maintain, insure and service the debt on a dual controlled car, then factor in an hours pay.

Why cant people keep to the agreed business process for using the fridge???

Tonight I have had to spend eight minutes re ordering the contents of the fridge in the kitchen, because yet again, “someone” keeps putting pots of Houmous and jars of olives on a shelf next to the cheese. Instead of putting them on the shelf with savoury non dairy. Fails to keep carrots in the draw with other root veg. And worse of all does not put the oldest sell by date items at the back of the shelf, resulting in the oldest use by dates not getting used first.

    why??

….and on the subject of fridges, why does “someone” insist on leaving the fridge door open at 90 degrees in peak summertime whilst “using the milk/juice/butter” resulting in the fridge losing all its cold air, going into turbo boost to re-cool, and turning all the strawberries to mush ? If I helpfully close the door I’m greeted by “Oi, I was just about to put the milk back”. It seems it’s too much like hard work to close the door and then reopen it to put stuff away.
    Why, god, why ?

Roslin shrieking even more this morning, and the travel guy being camper than ever.

Stick them both on the next flight to Rwanda and let’s have Nikki Chapman standing in for Zoe on her compassionate leave.

Mama mía - I could not live with either Andrew or TUT.

My fridge is a complete jumble and new stuff gets jammed in and the door closed quickly. The freezer bit at the top is an ice world with some unknown things wrapped in tin foil entombed in ice and snow at the back, along with 'juice' that has trickled from them and colourful dyed ice.

Admittedly, when I have the occasional blitz cleanout, I do find things that are weeks out of date and a bit furry. I found a cling film wrapped half pepper the other day, which was brown mush. BUT...

That is a small price to pay in return for spending time on more worthwhile things than calculating which shelf things ought to go on or doing anal OCD stock rotation.

    Really there's more to life.

Those amongst us who do not /will not leave the microwave door ajar after use.
If you don't let the moisture out it will smell forever and eventually turn to mould
