As I suspected it was a close-run match. We can count ourselves fortunate Muff didn't get a win.

    Really feel for Muff there.

And that Spurs penalty appeal that every single pundit and any human being with a semblance of eyesight thought was a stonewall penalty, clearly wasnt a penalty at all.

Hilarious interview from Mourinho. But what is up with him? Stealing a living for a good few years now.

Well we have not come out to badly from tonight's games, pity Muff got a point but all in all not a bad night for us, I'll take that.

    Funny game at Bournemouth.

Spurs should have had a penalty but Bournemouth had the better chances.

Maybe a draw was fair then !

Got away with one there I think, Bournemouth very average, but Tottenham were diabolical and were very lucky at the end to come away with a point, and with games running out, they must have been looking at that as one of their more winnable games. City and Leicester still to play, plus another tricky looking 'derby' (if only in the heads of Cherries fans lol) game to come against Southampton, which makes our 3 point and 5 goal cushion look a bit more comfortable

0-3 in the Villa game, Man Utd got the ball rolling with a Fergie-style dodgy pen, but once that went in, they could have got about 5-6, which would have been nice, but 0-3 is probably a decent enough shoreline for us

Yeah but silverware blah blah blah special one blah blah blah champions league blah blah blah. The guy is just so obviously toxic now. God knows what Levy was thinking replacing Poch with this walking sulk-bucket.

He’s only on £15m a year though, which is only double what poch was on and Klopp is currently on.

£15m a year to completely ruin your team and drag them in to mid table obscurity.

An ego appointment. Spurs acting like 'a big club' with an 'A-list' manager appointment desperate for a trophy to justify the money spent on useless players and overblown stadium.

The truth about Spurs is that they are quite lucky. They stumbled on Gareth Bale being the player he was. They were about to Giraldi him out on loan but were forced to play him. No Bale, no £100m+, no continued CL appearances. Bale couldn't get out quickly enough after that.

Same with Kane. More luck than judgement, Poch being forced to play him under the weight of fan pressure. However, Kane is starting to go missing a lot in big games for Spurs, even before his injury and was abysmal last night.

There's no real reason why they are defined as a 'big club' , they haven't won anything for years and are at times a real embarrassment on and off the field. The luck seems to be fading badly now though, just like with Arsenal.

This is going to be controversial but - I like Mourinho. There is something of the pantomime villain about him.

His football is *****, though. And he seemed a strange appointment.

Might they go for St Eddie if Muff are relegated?

I'd imagine his saintly reputation may have been too damaged by this season's results and looking like he's about to cry the last 3 or 4 interviews he's done. Hardly motivational stuff and a million miles from the smiley picture boy of previous seasons.

I’m not so sure. He’s still the media darling. “Plucky Bournemouth” were always bound to go down at some point. And relegation didn’t stop us hiring Silva, or Everton nabbing him.

TBF Silva arrived at Hull and almost rescued them which raised his reputation. I remember being really excited that he'd signed. Sir Eddie of Howe has overseen his squad gradually deteriorate and when they need to believe in his tactics and motivation, there's nothing there other than a young man who looks like he's about to cry...
However you might be right. Beggars can't be choosers and Spurs are not as attractive as they once were. I can't see them back in Europe for a while and they will never spend big to buy success.

I've long thought Spurs must be the most depressing team to support. They're always considered a 'big club' but haven't been Champions in living memory and even the moderately regular Cup wins they used to enjoy are a distant memory. Every so often they get excited and think the breakthrough is imminent, most recently under first Redknapp and then Pochettino, but then it all fades away again. This has been going on for decades and they are most certainly on the downturn now.

Not winning anything since 2008 must be a bit depressing for a club of that size.

Mind you Everton haven't since 1995.

Newcastle/West Ham longer unless you count the Championship title or play offs.

We brushed shoulders with them the season we won the league and I have to say I found them nauseating. The players and Pochettino came across as so arrogant and entitled, not unlike Arsenal who have at least won a few FA Cups recently. Their meltdown at the end of that season when the title was beyond them was a joy to behold. The phrase ‘having the trappings of success’ is made for a club like Spurs.

This remains one of my favourite pieces of football writing ever. Sums up why everybody seems to find their plight so funny.

I would have thought Newcastle (massive stadium but nothing of note to show for it in decades), Aston Villa not to mention Sheffield Wednesday and Forest are more depressing among the big clubs.

Maybe Everton but they're never bigged up despite their impressive league history with just a handful of seasons outside the top flight and none below the second tier, so expectations aren't that high.

Perhaps it depends how far back you can remember. Wednesday and Forest are certainly not regarded as being as big as Spurs and of course Forest and Villa have been League and European Champions long since Spurs have won anything that noteworthy. I take your point about Newcastle, who famously have won nothing since 1969, but in all my time following football they have only once been serious challengers, under Keegan. In fact my generation probably remembers them more as the team that lost to Hereford in the Cup. The point about Spurs is that they have always threatened, on and off, to do something great but have never managed it.

Spurs fans are the absolute worst. Used to sit next to one a my work and he was unbearable. He genuinely believed Arsenal fans were furious that they appointed Mourinho and they’d somehow got one over them.

There was the Keegan season when they were 12 points clear of Utd, bought Asprilla and everything crumbled. Keegan had his famous “I would love it” rant.

When your luck's in, your luck's in. Sterling scores a hattrick, but his third goal, is where he falls, and the ball just hits his head, goes through the keeper's legs and in off the post. Total fluke.

Sakho. Terrible header. Pathetic defending from Villa. Also Taylor may be injured as well.

VAR checking. Disallowed by fat ******* Moss. That is a clear goal.
