it is, cambridge or norwich, or if your really desperate ipswich, are the places to go near there if you want a decent night out or anything.

It's better than boarding school though... :dismay:

I'm about to go to bed. However, if I wake up at around the 3am mark for the 3rd even in a row coughing and spluttering my brains/guts up and being unable to sleep until about 7am then having to get up at 10 for work, I'll probably return here looking for some kind of solace. I farking hate chest infections.

We did bad things in boarding school too. Not appropiate to post on here probably due to religious believes being offended (NOTHING TO DO WITH RACISM BEFORE YOU SAY IT YAP)

Boarding Schools a laugh really. It's just when you realise the actual school's sh!t. There are sooo many jokes stories from times there. One particular one involves alot of booze on a Saturday disco night, but events leading up to it are what made it funny though ,so yeah, no point in telling that long story.

We even set up CCTV in our corridor using Webcam. That way you know when Staff are coming so you can hide the booze. Good times!

    Yankee question:
How much does boarding school cost to attend and who pays it?

  19. Cude>2<

    Cude>2< First Team Captain

Won't answer the cost myself as I think that's a personal question. But my Parents and Grand Parents paid for mine.

  20. lm_wfc

the costs depend on where you go really.

  21. Fitz

    Fitz Squad Player

So it costs, sometimes a lot, and you or your guardians have to pay for it?

Is the education better than the alternatives (that I presume you don't have to pay out of pocket for)?

  22. Cude>2<

Is meant to be. However I found my school took on a lot of people who were expelled from the state schools (free education schools) as there parents were willing to pay fees.

I think overall some boarding schools have better facilties and generally have less pupils in than the free ones.

If that answers your question fitz?

State schools vary greatly. The main difference, I believe between state schools, those that are paid for by the government, and independent schools, boarding schools or schools that are paid for by the student, is pastoralness. Only generalisation can be used because each school is different in quality and such, but in general I think paid schools tend to have smaller class sizes and more interaction with teachers, hence the higher grades.

But it changes quickly. Verulam, the best state school in St Albans, has been run into the ground by their headteacher in four years at the post, while some have blossomed of late with a change in inspection policy.

Independant schools vary as well. You get some which are like State-schools but with money, like mine. We make down to earth newmoneys and get average grades, whereas some, like St Albans Boys up the road, couldn't care less about life skills and go just for the grades- one boy I know got kicked off Maths A-Level because he got a B in a Maths mock exam.

Boarding schools are an enigma to me. They can produce good lads like HCP, but also some ****s, like the boy Cude there.

But paid schools get longer holidays, which is why I'm on here so much.

That may all be *******s, but it's My Humble Opinion.

I also went to a State school before boarding school. You can take the boy outta State school, but you can't take the state school outta the boy!

No no no no no no.

Like my school is a charitable school that originally, and still does to an extent, give opportunities to less than fortunate children, who maybe couldn't afford this type of education, and if you were to talk to people around my school, you would notice that maybe 10 of the 850 people in my school could be considered 'toffs'. My school has a foundation that pays for fees that cant be afforded by families, and barely anyone in the school pays full fees, and depending on income and debt etc. the school pays different amounts for different pupils. Therefore fees vary, and so the general attitude of pupils vary.
I know that a few schools are a little like mine, and alot of private school aim to provide a different environment for normal children.
It's only the real picky, and expensive private schools that would have your so called 'toffs' in a large attendance.

'Watford a danger from Set Pieces...The Corner Kennedy's latest effort...cleared by Todd...Wright!... WHAT A STUNNING GOAL!!!...That had Premiership quality written all over it!'

    or how about this?

'Here's Kennedy... Smart is the runner up with him... Allan Smart!... WATFORD ARE IN THE PREMIERSHIP!... WHAT A FINISH!'

    Just watched it over.

Good lad. At times of struggle i often turn to my Watford v Leeds dvd, if only to watch our players in the tunnel beforehand going mental while the Leeds lot stand there in terrified silence. Good times!

Unfortunately having woken up at 1 today, i'm somewhat struggling to sleep. Bad times.
