Players will only go if someone buys them. Just because it is assumed that a player wants to leave doesn't mean that he will.
I suppose the club could cancel their contracts but that is expensive with little return.

Deeney will end up at Fulham. They will see him as the perfect Mitrovic cover. Fulham looked rubbish in their first game. Similar to when they were last in the Prem. They will be desperate enough to offer us something for him.

Good point. Still think we’d be keen to shift him to avoid the hassle however.

Maybe a lesson for all to ensure any top prospects are signed up long term or buy some that can actually play for us rather than have to go out on loan?

Or just buy enough decent players to avoid relegation!

Probably got a viral overload, same as the ICU doctors at the height of the March surge in cases.

This is all we need the remainder of the team may not be available now.

Having said that, it might be a blessing in disguise maybe it will curtail the "Fire Sale" :)

That is a grim looking squad. No chance of promotion. Survival in the Championship is best we can hope for...

    Latest Athletic article:

    - Deeney wants to be back for the Luton game

    - Fenerbahce interested in signing him, would match his £100k pw wage

    - Deeney has 2 years left on his contract, with a third year activated if a certain number of games are played this season

    - Deulofeu doing intense rehab in Andorra, representatives looking to secure a move to Spain/Italy/Prem but offers may not come due to injury

    - Capoue is relaxed about staying/leaving, Valencia unlikely to meet price tag, Schalke interested

    - Dele-Bashiru has a groin strain and will be back in two weeks

    - Looking to sign a left-back, but Giannoulis may be out of budget / not want to leave / Newcastle interested

    - Back up in central defence may be near (Probably Troost-Ekong but not mentioned)

    - Chalobah sub at HT was planned

Much as I think it's time for him to move on, he will get what this game means more than most I suspect. If he was to leave the winning goal against the scum would be the best parting gift of all time

Think some would like that to happen !

I still think this is gonna be one of the weakest Championship seasons I've seen. Normally you can name 5 or so teams that you expect to be in the promotion hunt, obviously some disappoint and underachieve and there's a surprise package or 2 that take their place but I'm not seeing that in the league this season.

Brentford and Norwich are the strongest, but Brentford have lost Watkins and might lose Benhrama still as well. Uncertainty around us still, uncertainty around Bournemouth with their new manager and lots of outgoings...and that's it.

None of the other squads in the league are that much better than each other so outside of the top 6 any team could finish in any position and I wouldn't be too surprised about it. Which gives me faith that even if we lose more players than expected/desired then we'd still do well.

    Finally a sensible post.
I said a few weeks back along with a few others that this is the weakest Championship I've seen for years, if not ever. The three relegated plus Brentford will be there or there about. The other two playoff places are a lottery.
I still think Boro will be up there due to Warnock's experience, plus somebody mentioned Stoke. They have a decent manager now and look fairly strong.

This could also cement his status as a Watford legend, depending on what offence he commits

    Totally agree.

What is the main target for a club in this current situation? To make sure, that there will be a team today, tomorrow and next season. The owners must make sure, that we have a chance to compete for the biggest trophy for a club of our capasity can achieve: promotion to the premiership every now and then. Sometimes it means, that we have to take a step back and be assured, that we have a strong enough foundation to be stronger sooner or later.

I honestly believe that we won`t sell everyone on the so called list; some will go, but we will end up with strong enough squad. We may not go up this season, but we will be alive. That is what most of us want; that we have a club, we will follow, nomather which division they play in.

I have no idea how good they actually are but Stoke just beat an almost full strength Wolves side. I think they'll be up there with O'Neill in charge.

Bumped into a mate who's a Man Utd fan yet actually likes his football today.

He said he checked our squad and thought we'd walk it. Seemed surprised by my lack of excitement when I answered that we don't have a clue who is going to be left after the cull.

I didn't tell him about Pedro in case he's a mole but it goes to show we still have a hell of a squad on paper. It only takes a few of the 'prem' players to put their tails between their legs and get a sense of perspective and we'll be in a good place

A kick up the arse was certainly needed and it seems to be happening, and the owners are allowing it.

Judging by the Boro game that might mean those games aren't viewable on Hive Live. The rights situation for season streaming passes is starting to look like a bit of a joke.
