Funny though it sounds, I'd rather Bournemouth won this one, as any dropped points and Bristol will think they still have a chance which will make it hard for us.

    No Deeney or Gray..

Well for the first 60 minutes anyway.

    Hughes and Kiko in.

If we don't attack with this team we never will.

Bmuff drew 0-0 and didn’t register a single shot on target.

We have the opportunity to create some space. Therefore, we won’t.

I thought our game at their place was a snooze fest, but wow, they may have just topped it. Still, keeps us 2pts ahead of 6th.

I watched it in amongst topping up the feeders and bird bath, which had more activity than the football.
Forest are very dour but effective,if you're an insomniac.

Reading lose and Muff draw. Gap to 7th now 11pts.

I think we need to beat Preston and Derby this week to have any hope of top 2 though. Drop points in those games and we’re going to be stuck in a weird limbo.

Would be nice to get another 6 points next week. Would make the other teams stand up and look. But there's so many twists and turns to happen before the season ends.
But we have set a standard that we need to strive for every game now. Get near those or even better and we will have teams running scared.

The win has done wonders for our goal difference too, better than Bournemouth and surprisingly Norwich, and much better than Reading who were only ahead of/behind us by a goal or two not so long ago.

SSN kept pointing out Norwich hadn’t scored in four games before today. Then they scored four...

Do we need to stop worrying about top 6 now? Should we actually want the playoff chasers to win so that Bournemouth could get knocked down to 7th? Is that realistic, or is it likely that the top 6 will stay as they are?

If we consider top two as a long shot, I think we have to equally consider not finishing in the play offs as highly unlikely too. We are currently 11 points clear and even if Blackburn win their game in hand it will still be a healthy 9 point lead.

Famous last words, but I don't expect Watford to massively drop below the form they've had all season. There would be no reason for that to happen. On current season averages, we should gain another 30 points. That would give us 81 points. Not enough for the top two, but more than enough for a play off place this season. The cut-off point (i.e 7th place) is likely to be well under 70 points.

I can't see any of the top six dropping out of the play off places now. I think for us to get 90 points, which is likely to be around what we'll need for automatic, we have to hope two of the teams above us to have a bit of a wobble and we become a formidable chasing team, which could happen.

    Our run-in is insane though. The last six games are Reading (h ), Luton (a ), Norwich (a ), Millwall (h ), Brentford (a ), Swansea (h ).

Now if we are do it, then we'd have done it the hard way. However, these games are real six pointers and we have an opportunity to make up 3 points on four top six teams in our final run-in.

Before yesterday, I'd have said it's impossible for us to make up this ground. We had shown no evidence this team could string a sequence of 13 wins from 17 games. But, yesterday's performance has given me a little bit of hope. Can it be a turning point, or is it yet another false dawn? If we go to Preston, a venue we've only won twice in our entire history, and take them apart then I think we can start believing. The Preston game has now become hugely significant.

Brentford losing at home 0-1 to Barnsley at half time. Can they hang on? I doubt it but fingers crossed.

0-2. This is a hell of a tease if they turn this around.

    Interesting result.
Barnsley do have a go but the reporter chap said "two mistakes by a pillock",which sounds harsh.
    "No one's perfect",as Joe E Brown said!

If Swansea don't win both games in hand the gap is only 6 points. Wins in the games against our fellow challengers reduce that to 3 points. We are very much still in the race!

This is about the most 'one swallow...' post ever. Maybe wait for a second game free of drudging monotony courtesy of the two millstones around our neck as we wind down like a decaying Swiss clock before proclaiming it's likely that we'll make automatics.
