..........to get their fingers out and get Robbie Fowler before he goes to some Aussie outfit, he will fire you back to the premiership, no danger, definately worth a gamble.
Can't believe no-one seems interested in him.

You've hit the nail there! Its not worth his while the houses are to expensive, he'll go somewhere he can add loads more to his collection...

Joking aside, really surprised no championship club has come in for him, maybe a little too much off the pace now for the premiership but he could definately do a job in the championship, his movement and speed of thought are still top class and he still knows where that net is. Would bag at least twenty goals for some one without a doubt.

Andy Hammil is an excellent player, would be a great asset to Watford, watched the Scottish Cup Final, probably was the man of the match, caused Celtic allsorts of problems. Great prospect.

no thanks - ever though about wages?, and hima nad king doesnt really work - we need a strong player like hendo or HH

and its not our board - aidy makes the decision dwon hree 8)

Yeah but the player is out of contract so his wages wouldn't be a problem really if you got him on a free.
I'm sure Aidy tells the board who he wants but it will be up to them whether to sanction any deal otherwise you'd have Ronaldinho, Rooney and Gerrard playing at the VIc amonsgst others. :]]

wages would be a problem - just cos is a free doesnt mean we can afford 30,000 a week - and i'm sure aidy wouldnt do that - he realises that would put the club into bankrupcy ::)

    Evening Roady.

Cardiff have apparently offered him a deal so don't be suprised to see him down there in the near future. I also heard he was willing to take a paycut so IMO he should be a gamble - if he is willing not be an instant start that is.

Why would it? £30k x 52wks = £1.56m. He'd probably be on less than that anyway, and for a one year deal it'd be worth the risk. There are other alternatives too (pay as you play, wage rise proportional to games played throughout the season etc etc)

Fowler would be a fantastic addition to the squad. Not only for his on the pitch abilities, but imagine the points he can give our young forwards. Imagine having Robbie Fowler as your mentor. Imagine how much Priskin, Hoskins, Moses and theo could learn from Robbie.

Sure he's not what he was but FFS he's still a legend.

No thanks. Too old too slow.

What would be his motivation and what signal would that send out to the likes of Hoskins, Priskin and Ashikodi.

Well he might be able to teach them a thing or two about scoring goals, seeing as none of them have been prolific.

He's already stated that he'd be willing to take a massive paycut so it's quite clear his motivation is simply playing football for the love of it rather than financial gain.

Even so, i can't see us making a move for him and i won't be disappointed by that, but by the same score i wouldn't complain if we did sign him as i feel he'd be a class act in the chumpionship.

i meant signing all the players like rhonaldinho rec mentioned.

the wages are still too much for what he does though. dont want him.

and luke i would say hoskins was quite prolific for rotheram....

Yep, in a lower league, for half a seaon. When did he ever look like scoring when he played for us? The only thing that jumps to mind is him blazing over from 5 yards on his debut away to Villa or refusing to shoot when faced with a clear goalscoring chance in a home game, can't remember who it was against though.

In his prime, Fowler was one of the finest finishers in the game and even now, his positional play and experience is hard to beat. Young strikers like Hoskins, Ashikodi and Priskin would learn an incredible amount from Fowler. I'm not saying i'd love to sign him, but theres no denying that our young strikers would benefit from his experience of playing at the top-level.

LFC fans came out with comments like that when Houllier raised a few eyebrows by signing Gary Mcallister at the age of 35.....
'What message does that send to Gerrard, Murphy, Redknapp?' etc.
It sends the message of 'watch & learn'. There is no substitute for experience and his input proved invaluable, I am convinced if LFC didn't sign Gary Macc we would not have won the cup treble in 2001, he was probably Houlliers best signing in his time at Anfield.

He's the same age as Cureton and he didn't do too badly last season.

Roady - what's going on at Anfield? First Torres and now Babel - it almost seems like they're serious about challenging for the premiership title next season.

Anyone else exciting coming to Liverpool?
