The hosts are using our server to install something new this afternoon and test it. I think the new software is pushing their server software somewhat . If you see errors/slowness then it's them this time. All leading to better things, trust me.
Yeah, it's no problem. It's just the opening post of the Birmingham Match Thread, that I can't edit. Iwelumo looks doubtful, so was going to stick Weimann into the starting XI instead. I'll do it later, if I get my edit button back
The issue is that once you create a thread, you only have so many hours until you are unable to edit it again. I'm pretty sure it's 48 hours. To overcome this I've given you and the chaps that do the reports local mod access to the General Watford forum. This should also enable you to make the thread a sticky when it's posted.
For some reason the thread Watford Twitter in Graham Taylor's Office is showing an unread post by watfordgooner but when I click on the thread I can't see it and when I come back out of the thread again it still shows as unread.
There might be a few little bugs like this due to all the messing about behind the scenes. After today all should be well.
OK, there's something in that thread causing problems for everyone so I've removed it. Today has certainly been a bit strange .
Very slow page loading since (roughly) 00:30 on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Edit: 00:58 and the site is virtually at a standstill here in Oxhey67 Towers. Taking a daft amount of time accessing any kind of page if accessing anything at all. Fingers crossed this loads/sends! Edit Mk II: 01:20 and all seems fine again. Noyce.
Thanks Oxhey for the report. I've checked the logs and something is definitely wrong at certain times when the load on the server goes bananas. I've asked the hosts to sort this out and stop pi**ing about this time.
It's been very intermittent over the last hour or so. Takes so long to load that is not worth waiting.
Viewing stuff seems ok but any admin work or making a post, ie changes to the database seem to be slower than usual. With my limited knowledge I;d say that the database is a little bit mhaussive.
Something is not right and we're continuing to work on it. I think Hornmeister is right about the database being too big, and because we've messed about with it quite a lot in the last few days I'll run some tools on it later tonight to make sure it's nice and streamlined again.
I had two attempts to reply to threads today and got spat out. Probably cos my input is boring.... Not sure if it's the problem you guys are talking about mind.
We're slowly getting to the bottom of the issues now. The positive thing about the last few days problems is that we've now come up with a much better way of testing new plugins and upgrades, so that these should have no impact on the forum whatsoever. We're also monitoring the forum with better tools and potential issues can now be spotted well before they become a problem. Every cloud and all that .
Positives out of a negative I like it. Was never dreadful anyway to be fair, I've been on sites far slower than this. Difference is you're trying to actually sort out issues rather than leave them and hope they go away!
Site has issues right now due to our hosts having monster problems with their VPS servers at the moment. Unfortunately we're on one of them!!
Just be aware that there may be a few minutes of downtime as I'm messing with some stuff behind the scenes this evening, (so there may actually be a few hours of downtime ).
