Should we all be Liverpool supporters?

?

Do you support the plucky 'Brits' when they play in Europe?

  1. Yes, of course. They represent the dominant power of the marvellous English Premier League.

  2. I have to. We can't have Johnny Foreigner putting one over on us. We invented the game.

Many in the media seem baffled when fans of other clubs don't want British teams to win in Europe. Back in the 70s and 80s, when British clubs regularly used to win European trophies, I always wanted them to win. But times have changed. In those days the teams were full of British players, so it was like watching a club version of the World Cup. Now clubs are wholly international. Even worse, the tournaments are openly organised by UEFA to continually benefit and sustain a small group of already mega-rich clubs. Why would I want our mega-rich clubs to get an even greater competitive advantage over the rest?

I'm pretty sure I am correct in saying the more successful English clubs are in Europe, the more places we have in European competitions!

Apart from that why wouldn't true football fans wish our clubs to be successful, surely after your own team, other teams in our league are representing us!

    Come on Liverpool!

About 50% of all the kids I went to school with that were in to football. My generations version of the current Chelsea/Man City younger "fans".

You'll be pleased to hear that Mr HH, a lifelong Liverpool fan, is a northerner and still has a northern accent despite his many years in the south. However, being married to him, I am equally relieved that his accent is not a scouse one. And of course I shall be supporting Liverpool in Europe, just as he would support Watford if we got to Europe (it's taking a lot of self control not to insert a laughing emoji at this point).

I very much like Salah, Firmino and a lot of Liverpool's squad. It's a shame about Klopp however.

Would like to see them win the UCL

I think its only fair that such a victimised wonderful city, a people who stick together despite being wronged by the rest of the world, should win the CL. Telling the rest of us about it for the next 15 years might just shut their whinny little gobs for that same period if it weren't for the biennial re-opening of the Hillsborough enquiry....

Of course, us English have to stick together against these foreign pansies who basically make up the clubs in the English Premier League and entertain us every week. However Liverpool do have Henderson, Clyne and Milner. True English grit right there. Players who are proud to wear the St.George flag on their heart. COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe Manchester City have been playing the best football I've ever seen from an English team (well, a team based in England). But I was delighted when they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Wigan, and even more delighted when they were knocked out of the Champs' League by Liverpool.

I think this was because Guardiola, excellent coach though he is, always chooses to stack the odds in his own favour by working for the richest club in the league, and because the club is effectively owned by an emirate with no history or tradition of football but with an iffy record on human rights. Also, I rather like Klopp's enthusiasm.

I hope they win the competition, because in European elite terms Liverpool are nowadays an underdog and if they do, it means that loathsome Real Madrid haven't.

I couldn't case less whether Chelsea or Manchester United ever win it or not, but I'd probably cheer on Spurs or Arsenal.

Couldn't give a **** who wins but I'll always back the underdog in the later stages - I'm just glad City (And Barcelona) got knocked out, can't stand Pep and had to chuckle when he got sent to the stands.

Hoping for a Liverpool v Madrid final as I think that would probably be the most exciting.

I'd also like to see the uproar if RB Leipzig went up against RB Salzburg in the Europa.

P.s. Liverpool had more British players on the pitch against City than we did against Burnley lolz.

Actually, I like Arnold wotsit, Gomez & Robertson (although Scottish).

I generally cheer on most English teams in Europe. I'd probably cheer on Muff if they made it but then I'm not in the group trying to generate some pointless and unfounded rivalry between us.

There are however a select few English teams I would want to get thouroughly caned at every opportunity:

    Scummers
    Liverpool
    Leeds
    Millwall
    West Ham

Therefore I will be supporting Roma in the semi.

    Despise Liverpool.

Constant conveyer belt of w**nker managers (please don't let Klopp fool you, he's a massive tw*t and a very average manager, and showed his lack of class with his comments after the West Brom game) and unbearably delusional, idiotic fans.

It pains me to see Salah doing what he's doing there. They'd be nothing without him.

You can never trust football......Liverpool were in the final, now it's wide open.

If Roma get an early goal next week, and they are quite capable of going 2-0 up at home, I think they'll probably go on to knock out Liverpool.

What an amazing story that would be. 0-5 down and still get to the final.

Those two away goals will give Roma confidence, however, they will probably have to score at least 4 as I think Liverpool will pinch a goal.

Salah is unplayable right now. He reminds me of Messi so much. He gives Liverpool that x-factor. Without him, they are a totally different side. I thought Mane was really poor. He should have scored a hattrick.

Next week should just have been a formality, but now it's game on.

Barca thought they had done enough, but got beaten by a terrific performance. I think the same could well happen again.

Liverpool were my First Division team of choice from the mid 70s, so I want them to win. I like Klopp and I like the entertaining football the team plays, including their dodgy defence.
