Thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't sure with the new rules on this. I know in the EPL 25 have to be registered, 8 home grown etc. EFL seem to be a bit more lenient with rules only applying to matchday squads, which works well for us.

 

He's got that role nailed down.

Well he’s spoken. He’s definitely leaving Hibs this window. Even calls the Scottish league a “fishbowl.” That won’t go down well.

To be a top Scottish footballer, you have to leave Scotland. Always exceptions to the rule - but the overwhelming evidence speaks for itself.

 

I agree completely, he’s definitely not holding back though with that comment.

If it is Porteous coming in, I would hazard a guess that the deal is already done or very close to it. Just like Ekong got to wave bye today, Porteous will get his opportunity tomorrow against Hearts.

Really can’t see us letting Ekong go without a replacement already in place. Even if it isn’t Porteous, we surely have someone else wrapped up or close to it.

 

Watch him get injured tomorrow.

 

Could well be that Porteous is close but another deal is done?

Never rule out the lack of foresight that Watford Football Club regularly shows - but I’d still be surprised if we had a deal done for Porteous and allowed him to play. Whack him on the bench and give him a polite 5mins at the end. But the noises are that he will play from the start. That’s a risk for a Scottish club who will savour the transfer fee income - it’s not a risk you take.

If he starts, it sheds doubt on how close it is I’d say.

I have heard that Porteous deal is confirmed for the summer. That may have changed since Ekong leaving, maybe we try to speed things up, but he’s certainly coming here.

Was third choice for captain at Hibs so seemingly has some leadership abilities. We will need to plug this gap if WTE goes to Italy.

Now at 23 years old, Porto has matured as a footballer over the years and his progression is there for all to see.

Since the beginning of the 2021/22 season up until now, Porteous is the top-ranking centre-back for ball recoveries and fouls won.

Not only has Porteous been impressive in defence, but he has demonstrated an eye for a pass and launching attacks himself. The ball-playing defender also tops the charts in terms of successful progressive passes and successful switch passes.

Amongst all centre-backs in the cinch Premiership Porto ranks second for; counter pressures, successful passes under pressure and pass % under pressure.

He makes the top three centre backs for; successful tackles, dribbles completed, aerial success and carries into the final third.

 

He’s no Kabasale.

He seems a bit of a nutter who is decent on the ball but needs a lot of coaching on actually being a defender. You'd think Bilic and D!cks should be good at that.
