I presume you mean Jobi. If we get half of that offer i'd take it! I'd like to think Boothroyd will attempt to take Adam Johnson on a season long loan from Boro this summer anyway.
I can't see Johnson as a possibility. Surely he would have Premiership options? I also can't see anyone bidding £5m for McAnuff.
£5 million would be too good to turn down imo - though i'd feel we'd then need 2 wingers. Could get AJ on loan for the season and sign Wes Hoolahan from Blackpool (him and Ainsworth our future wingers?!) Rumour might have some truth - played for West Ham. Then again that could be the reason they've made it up...
Muff is one of the very best wingers in the league. We should only even think about selling if we have a QUALITY replacement lined up - i.e Johnson or whoever. £5m seems ridiculous anyway. Good as he is, I would still only put him at £2m as a fair price. Maybe £5m is to stop people bidding?
Sell Sell Sell! £5 Million for McAnuff is RIDICULOUS money, that'd be Aidy's christmas and birthday come at once. I'd like to see him stay as if this so called 'new style' comes in I reckon he'd do well, but you just couldn't justify turning an offer like that down.
Jobi was our only decent player in play offs , to sell would be madness. The guy is coming good , why sell our best players???? We need to off load the dead wood (Kabba , Doyley Etc) Then build on it , I for one think The Duke will prove us wrong next season. The duke and someone like earnshaw up from would be spot on.
During the play-offs we have seen what Macnuff can play like, and in my opinion he will be a key player next season. That said, 5 million is alot of money, and I would accept it.
In a summer when aidys likley to have to sell before he can buy we couldn't turn down 5 million, could get decent players in a couple of positions for that, but no way will we get a 5mil offer for mcanuff.
Very astute the hammers - Muff is a fine player and true value at £5,000,000, but no easy payment system - we need it all up front. We could probably provide them with half a new team. Mind you I think Ellington is even better - Aidy thinks he is marvellous and can do things in training that others can only dream about - our normal price for forwards of this class is £60,000,000, but as they are neighbours say £7,000,000. Doyley and Kabba - really motivated players, with outstanding ball skills, and if they buy both I am sure we can work something out ...................... (well we are selling):]]
Errr, you've a selective memory Yoda. Because King didn't go for 60mil you say Aidy doesn't stick to amounts?? Of course, Ashley Young went for pennys didn't he? Bouazza went for his true value I believe. Just because you were gullable enough to believe that King would only go for 60 million. Christ, some people nowadays...
Putting the price tag to one side, I could see a straight swap for Davenport happening. Though I'd rather have both here...
Nope Nope Nope. We need to improve the squad. Only when we have released or sold the wingers who we have who are worse and have 4 better in the side do we let him go. We should not be a feeder club anymore.
There is a tricky little left footed, left sided midfielder doing well at Swindon, who at least provides an end product, who would be an ideal replacement (and he knows where to park his car !).
According everything I see West Ham are looking to offload players and cut their cloth accordingly. there is no way on this earth that they would go to £5million also bearing how long it took Aidy to get his man if Aidy was to sell him it would undermine everything he stands for and therefore he would lose respect very quickly !
5 million is a red herring as we know he is not worth that, so do the club and so do any potential buyers. Even so, I would sell him in a heartbeat for anything over 750k. He's a waste of space. Don't come back at me with the performance against Hull either. A player who gives us 3 performances a season is worth nothing to us. Get rid.
Surely though, if he were to play like that every game then, then we'd all be annoyed at the low price we got for him (750k as you suggested is ridiculous. £2million or more for me) What we saw against Hull looked very good, and perhaps it is a sign of things to come- he may have a full season of good performances for all we know.
