The QF was unbelievable. One of the most febrile atmospheres ive seen outside argentina. Quite a few brum fans were taken away on stretchers. The referee could have sent off at least one brum player, I was 13 at the time and i was actually hoping no one got sent off cos the atmosphere was on such a knife edge.

That Birmingham team was possibly the most violent I’ve known, inspired by the hard man that was Ron Saunders.
