THIS IS A CAUSE WELL WORTH SUPPORTING; PLEASE VOTE IT TAKES ONLY ONE PUSH OF A BUTTON FOR A WHOLE DAY OFF WORK!!

We have a real chance to make April 23rd, our nations day a bank holiday. If you are in agreement then please vote and also please send this to as many people as possible as it's all about numbers.

There is a chance the public can make St Georges Day a public holiday (After this year) Click on the link below to vote, the site needs at least 500,000 votes for the government to take it seriously and give us another holiday, and I know you are up for that!

Not signing, if these people came up with a decent reason and not trying to fob the government off with the patriotic line then i might sign it.

Ok, i have to ask the question chewy. If you had a day of to celebrate St. Georges day, what would you do and propose others do?

I'm not in a position to tell anybody how to "celebrate" st.george's day but personalyl if i was working and had a day off for St.George's day i'd have a lye in then get up, watch neighbours and play FM all day.

St.George's day has lost all meaning in this country which has meant there's little to celebrate.

Patriotism is a dying breed, but its no suprise given the current state of our country. There is very little that the average person can look at and feel patriotic, and in the age of political correctness showing signs of patriotism is now becoming a social taboo.

Personally speaking, i feel little affinity with being English, if i had a choice between going to watch England or Watford, i'm fairly certain the orns would win 9 times out of 10, and i'm sure many others feel the same. As our country becomes more and more multi-cultural rightly or wrongly, we'll lose more and more of our national identity.

Bit worried about this sounding like a BNP speech so i'd better just make it clear that personally i'd say im pretty unpatriotic and the only time I ever wave the St Georges Cross is when England are playing in an international tournament.

Agree with you there, Government are too cautious in some aspects of live. Hard to explain, but some things in England you can't do or say as it risks offending other cultures within England.

It's the wrong time of year; there are already too many bank holidays between March and June:

    Good Friday
    Easter Monday
    May Day
    Spring Bank Holiday (Whitsun)

If you were petitioning for a bank holiday in the autumn I would agree - it's a long stretch from the end of August to Christmas.

More people in this country celebrate Bonfire Night than St.Yusuf's Day. Perhaps they should push for a bank holiday in November instead.
