Probably not. But when you factor in that we would supposedly pay £19m for Origi and we got £10m-ish for Amrabat and Zarate, that’s over £27m and I know who I’d rather have. And it doesn’t even touch what we made on Richarlison.
Leicester have already got more strikers than we have CMs. Vardy, Ulloa, Okazaki, Ineacho, Slimani, Moussa
https://www.sport-english.com/en/ne...e-premier-league---on-a-two-year-loan-6972748 A typically complex deal. Saying that we're looking to get him on a two year loan
With an obligation to buy him at the end of the deal? Would probably help balance our books over the course of the next couple of years.
There would probably be a clause saying upon relegation the deal is cancelled. Or something of that ilk.
So it's effectively a permanent deal, with us paying in instalments (loan fees) before paying Barca the rest of what is owed in 2020. Interesting way of doing the deal but I'm glad Gino and co have persisted, if the story is true.
Perhaps it's because by that point we expect to have gotten an extra windfall as part of the Richie deal from Everton having qualified for the Champion's League... Lol, on a more serious note, it's good that we seem to be still in the hunt for another striker.
Nice, this will either come off or smoke out Liverpool into dropping their price for Origi. Would be happy with either. Alcacer has the higher pedigree but not proven in the Prem, Origi is younger and prem experienced.
We seemingly have a decent relationship with Barca that will work in our favour, and obviously Deulofeu being here might persuade him to join. I wonder as well if we might be using their interest in Hernandez to make the deal happen, say giving them first refusal?
Alcacér is a much better player than Origi. I really hope this is true. Easily the best of the strikers we have been linked with so far this summer.
Yeah, prb agree with that. Although Origi is far better in the air which as the lone striker is important. How many times have we seen crosses come in and only a short Gray or a static Deeney in the middle to meet the cross.
could easily be - with Rich / Okaka gone / going it seems possible - Gerard D does not offset - he was here last year and in reality replaces Niang/Carillo
Well as good as you can look alongside Neymar, Messi and Suarez, he always looked to hold his own whilst obviously not being at their standard - but he didn’t look out of place. Can play through the middle but also has the ability to play on the right or left of a 3 man attack. Was very good at Valencia and has a decent strike rate for Spain in their stronger period of form. Can’t really find any fans with a bad word to say about him from any of his clubs online... Origi however, we’d be paying for the promise that he had when arriving at Liverpool. And even then he was voted into Ligue 1’s worst team of the season. I saw him live last season when I watched Hertha play Wolfsburg in Berlin and he was comfortably the worst player on the pitch. He strikes me as all the worst bits of Welbeck with not quite so many good bits. I don’t think he’s unable to make a name for himself somehere but at £19m, I’d rather go for someone less high-risk. But at his best, I can also see how he’s better than what we currently have. I just don’t think he’s capable of being at his best consistently or even half the time and he’d be a cause of massive frustration.
100%. There is no doubt in my mind that Cucho would be part of any negotiation in both this deal and perhaps the Deulofeu deal too. First refusal sounds about right. Would be happy with Alcacer, especially on a loan deal. International striker, plays for one of the biggest clubs in the world, far better than Deeney, Gray and Okaka. What’s not to like?
HB1 and ITKJim must be itching to comment on this Sound promising, never ******* heard of him until now but I think we should sign him no matter what.
Very encouraging reading. I hope we pull this off - god knows we need an upgrade in attack! Re. Origi, I think Alcacer is better but they’re both a level above what we have. Asking for both is greedy but in an ideal world we’d sell Okaka and one of Troy/Gray and sign both Alcacer and Origi.
I wonder if the idea could be to play Alcacer wide left? Can see him struggling a little with the lone striker role in the Prem.
Just thinking that we will no longer have to worry about how good he is on a wet, November Tuesday in Stoke... not until next season when we get relegated.
Ive just done a comparison between Alcacers and Origis Youtube videos to see who is the best player. Alcacers backing track is more DnB based whereas Origis is hardcore cheesy techno which I despise . On that evidence I would suggest to Gino that Alcacer is the better deal.
Ideally Alacer left, Origi middle and Del Boy right. One of Hughes, Pererya behind. Back up Success, Deeney/ Gray and Sema. Sounds good to me.
