I must commend you sir for your persistence in this Alpaca rumour. As days pass you reveal another tantalising snippet that gives us all hope that he may sign for us. On and on you plough, like a nun's knickers, against all possible logic. Indeed sir,if I had a cap I would doff it to you. One equal temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive,to seek,to find and not to yield. You embody the Victorian spirit. Bravo to you,but will he sign? Very fine! Betis are decent I've heard it said.
Someone called "powerjugs" just posted this on another website (you know the one). Someone called Reids1 posted in the thread. I'm not crying, I've just got a little dust in my eye..... https://noticierouniversal.com/actualidad/la-semana-decisiva-del-barca/ I guess google translate would make sense of this but I'm on a conf call at work so no time.... EDIT - Sorry Oxhey has already posted in #379....
Can we get keyman insurance on him straight away ? Does he have a non-compete and confidentiality clause ?
Hang on Alpaca, Jefferson Llama and the reemergence of the Mark Vicuña thread? Three South Americans we won’t be signing.
Please IBB, explanation needed. Either this is a very old expression, too old for me to remember, or modern street slang or rap rhyme that whooshed me. Can I impress my friends by saying this? Indeed, does it have sexual connotations like the mother superior telling the nuns at bedtime “candles out girls”? I love the way this forum enlightens me. Thanks. (Really hope the footie starts soon)
I think I heard Chris Tarrant say it about Cara the weather girl,a lifetime ago on Capital Radio 194! I use it frequently. Blends well with Tennyson I think?
Take it with a pinch of salt, however, just been told that this isn't done yet but things could change between now and Thursday
According to The Mirror (I know, it's The Mirror) Southampton are plotting a swoop on our man Alcacer. In a somewhat disrespectful move, the paper seems to have neglected to mention we've got him on a white leatherette and chrome office chair at London Colney just waiting for the club photographer to put a new film in his camera so he can capture the moment he signs for WFC. Here's what they're saying about stuff. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southampton-eyeing-barcelona-striker-paco-13041860 Southampton are considering a late move for Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer. Leicester and West Ham have eyed up the 24-year-old marksman but the Saints' boss Mark Hughes is a long-time admirer. Barca are ready to do business with any club prepared to meet Alcacer's £3million loan fee and his wages, which are said to be around £80,000-a-week. Hughes has refused to rule out the possibility of some late business at St Mary’s before Thursday’s 5pm deadline. He said: “At this moment in time as we stand here we are probably at a point where we are not likely to do any business but you never know. “If there is something that presents itself and makes sense and you have the means and resources to do it then we will look at it."
The main reason I posted it was because, after being mentioned time and again as WFC being a very viable option for the player, we seem to have disappeared out of the picture. Surprise surprise though - West Ham & Leicester are there! HA! However, if what they're saying is true, £3m for the two year loan looks very low. With part of the deal being the move has to be made permanent at the end of the loan, as has been reported elsewhere, that's a decent player for two years for next to nothing. Even if it's £3m a year, that's still a very low initial outlay.
It does seem different to what usually happens and it'd be interesting to know who came up with the 2 year loan/compulsory buy idea. Two Spanish clubs offered a straight transfer but Barcelona apparently weren't impressed with the amounts put forward. Also, Barcelona are to sell players before they buy. I'm not sure why that's the case but it has been reported for a while now. (http://sport360.com/article/footbal...-selling-players-before-reinforcements-arrive) It looks like they want to get more for Alcacer despite it being spread over three years, similar to the situation with Wolves, Middlesbro' and Adam Traore where an £18m release clause is in place as long as it's paid in one go. Wolves want to spread the payments but will end up paying £20m+.
That's providing a club is willing to pay what he's currently on. Most clubs won't pay Barcelona level wages, especially not in Spain. He may well be happy to sit and run his contract down like Rodwell at Sunderland. Or perhaps he'll have to take a pay cut if he wants to play football for someone, be it WFC or Southampton or one of the sides he was linked with in Spain.
Great stuff fron hughes “at this moment in time as we stand here we are probably............”. Any more superfluous words Mark?
