i would imagine 3 directors with a combined wealth in excess of £33Billion gives us* quite a bit more buying power than your willing to concede. take a look at their respective business histories and you will see a tendancy to buy small/ struggling and build. as yet i haven't seen any signs of flav getting bored with his F1 team not beating the ferarri or williams boys week in week out while he keeps ploughing his considerable fortune into his team *the club nothing lasts forever mate but for a club 6 days away from folding recently what we have now is pure unadulterated heaven i'm sure your pleased for us really UEA :]]
F1 is a bit different! It's a rich boy's toy all over. Weekend trips to Monaco, glamorous parties, it's the high life. QPR, in the Championship, on a wet windy Tuesday night isn't. I don't deny your current buying power but it's all relative - it won't last forever and I can't see you getting promoted this season or next. I don't see you attracting the right type of player. It's going to be all overpriced Championship talent (Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is the latest one linked at £1.5m) and elderly mercenaries.
Look at what we had when we got promoted last. Hardly anything but championship and elderly mercenaries...
True on the talent side - but define mercenary!? Marlon would have been one if he hadn't turned out to be a genius. So would Clarke C, Springy maybe even.
Elderly mercenary = someone over 30 on wages which significantly exceed the average for the squad. Probably also someone with a long list of previous clubs. I know QPR don't have any yet but that'll be one of the key types of player their money will attract. Look at us with Vega, Blondeau etc in 2003/4 for examples.
"It's going to be all overpriced Championship talent (Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is the latest one linked at £1.5m) and elderly mercenaries." tell me about it, we already have one gavin mahon :]]
