...Cos it's a cool looking hornet. I prefer red because....(how many times...) 1.) Watford biggest games have been played in yellow/red. (First Game ever in the top flight in 1982, the 7-1 destruction of Southampton, the day we finished runners-up in 1982/83, our first game in European competition, the FA Cup Final, both Play-Off final victories, Division 2 Championship home kit, (even tho we won it in blue/sky blue stripes that day.) 2.) It's one of the most distinctive and stylish home colours in the English game. (Sheffield Utd used to use it as away colours.) Don't get me wrong, I like black shorts and socks, but they're not as original and intimidating as the yellow/red combo.
The Great Graham Taylor introduced the red into the kit shortly after he arrived, I beleive it was to add more colour. Though I will look this up tonight and post it tomorrow, as I have got the answer at home.
Red is for the blood spilled by our mighty warriors on the field of Battle. Or not. Me, I like yellow shirts, black shorts and probably black socks, but with red used as trim on the yellow stuff (and yellow used as trim on the shorts). We keep wearing red shorts 'because, statistically, we have been most successful in red shorts' and losing. Me, I'd like to try the black shorts. I do like the bright yellow rather than the 'gold' of Wolves, despite our occasional nickname of the 'Golden Boys'. Of course, we really need to be sponsored by McDonalds... Heck, it was 15 years before I realised that Ronald McD was not one of our players... he did rather resemble Craig Ramage, after all.
no option for yellow top, red shorts and yellow socks??? thought it looked really good at pompey away
