Luton boss Mike Newell could face disciplinary action after criticising foreign players and match officials. More...
He's a proper sore loser. 99% of his comments come after defeats which somewhat undermines them. Still, couldn't think of a better manager for Luton.
he is a sore loser, but he is right. there is no way you can deny foreigners dive alot, not all, but more of them than english players. anyone seen la liga recently?
But he's not complaining about foreigners per se. What's he's actually saying is "if a foreigner goes down he's diving and the ref should know that but if one of my English lads goes down it's never a dive and the ref should give a foul". That's xenophobic, not right.
"Should play have stopped before the second? The linesman had a good view of the incident," he said referring to the injury to his player David Bell." "I will never have a player feigning injury, ever. I don't want those players in my side. Reading between the lines: my guy was English and it was a foul. We're going soft because of the foreigners." He added: "As soon they are touched, they go to ground. Reading between the lines: foreigners always dive Point proven I think!
watching him go ape**** on the touchline last night was farking hilarious, he was fuming!! I've never encountered such a ****** who akes defeat so badly, he was dreadfully wrong in saying play should have stopped and now he's in trouble with the FA again !! Complete idiot, he can slate foreigners all he likes for diving but when officials are getting verbally abused on a regualr basis from Newell that is another thing which needs to stop ASAP. He continues to show himself up to be a bitter man who fails to see faults in his own side. SUPER KEVIN PHILLIPS !!
The thing that annoys me about referees that now applies to Newell is you think that if a player does something a lot (dive) he is more than likely going to do it again yet they do nothing. Now Mr Newell moans a lot, so if he loses he is probably going to moan. Why don't they just bring along a camera with no tape, switch the microphone off and leave him to let off steam. We don't want to hear it so don't cover his rants. If we ignore him maybe he will shut up.
Thats a bit like saying lets bury our heads in the sand and let him be xenophobic and say whatever he wants to say.. thats a long slippery road and no-one wants the game to go down that road
I think the point Evasive is trying to make is more that it's like a chicken and egg scenario. Does Newell make his comments because the press are there or do the press pursue Newell because he is likely to make comments?
either way its not right that he should say things like that... it could be construed as racist and the major thing in football today is to irradicate racism isnt it? If you or I were to say it we would be prosecuted, just cos he says it because the press are there doesnt mean that its right.. or that not recording it would mean he isnt saying it
It's not racist, it's xenophobic. It is also not a crime to be xenophobic, though it is a crime to discrimate on such grounds. Anyway, as I say, Evasive wasn't backing him up, I believe he was just saying that the press are not faultless. Their questions provoke it.
Racist.. xenophobic.. fine line between the two.. either way its wrong to say it.. the fact that the questions provoke it doesnt help but it doesnt excuse it. I realise also he wasnt defending it.. im just putting my own personal viewpoint on it.. the bit that got me was saying "dont tape it" makes no difference.. he shouldnt say it.. end of.
I am not defending Newell. I am just saying that as long as we keep giving him a chance to shoot his mouth off, we are always going to get some provocative messages from him. If we just get bored of him and don't cover it then we might see a decline in comments from Newell.
he may be right but when every little thought pops in to his head he goes and tells the media!!! why cant he keep his eyebrows big gob out of things
I know you arent defending it.. and i agree that if they stopped asking the questions then he would be in less of a position to make rash comments.. but this is the media we are talking about.. he is playing right into their hands when he comes out with things like that so they WILL keep it up. The point is he has to be taught (as he is obviously too dense to work it out for himself) that he cant get away with saying it!
Its true though - Robbie Savage is Welsh and went down quicker than lee cook eating a kebab with a pack of wolves around him.
newell is a grad A ****, him and scum town deserve each other. at times he says a lot of things others only think, the guy is as thick as shyte.
Talking off Lee Cook he got sent off yesterday I always knew you wern't allowed to attack other players with Pitta.
he got sent off yesterday because his half time kebab hadn't been finished and he didn't want the other ha ha ha players nicking it. Credit whre credit is due - twas a good plan.
