Yawn, early start. left Home at 6.50am to catch the 7.15 train from Redhill to Victoria. On arrival at said station the place was in melt down, emergency works at Gatwick meant a replacement bus service was operating south of the station, trains were late, cancelled and all staff bl00dy clueless, bring back BR. A dash across the underground was then required as I was now running late, luckily I had built a safety buffer in to my plans.

On arrival at Kings Cross I made my way to McD's to obtain my brekkie for the journey. A double sausage and egg McMuffin and three hash browns, this was ate in the luxury of 1st class. Breakfast was washed down at 9.15 am by the first of my Coronas brought along for the journey up.

Young Nick (wfc4life) appeared and we smuggled him in to 1st class.

I knew we had arrived when looking out of the window I noticed row upon row of terrace 1 up 1 down outside loo slums. Luckily my bag of beer was now empty and i was ready for more.

By now it was 12.00 and a two min dash was made to the Union rooms opposite.

back bar became "Ours" with some good singing.

Lots of old / familiar faces were present (too many to mention)

Loads of beers later we left for the 15 min walk or so up to the ground.

having not been for years it is certainly impressive. But how many bloody stairs did we have to climb, luckily on arrival at the top there was no queue for the bar :).

In to my seat, right next to the Geordie's on the left and a rather tasty wpc next to me, good banter with her first half, she was moved second half for being too friendly.

Walked down the steps on the left to go to the loo, was told by a sargeant i couldn't go on the walkway and had to go to my seat and push past 50 people spoiling their view to get to the loo. didn't argue, just did as I was told, on getting back to my row another WPC came down and told me that was my first and only warning, big argument then followed. in the end i just left it as she wasn't being reasonable.

in general i thought we played well and were unlucky yet again. But we can't keep bemoaning bad luck, we need to bury the bloody ball a bit more. There is still hope, on another day with another fit striker we could have won 3 or 4 - 2.

There second goal goes in and the northerners to my left go mad, i don't respond to some provocation.

One lad who had given it large all game gets up to leave and we shake hands, much to the annoyance of my WPC friend who gets upset again.

With about two minutes to go, i finally snap at some of the abuse and it is me who is escorted out, not the morons to the left. My friend is now in her element.

i refuse to give my DOB or address to the copper only my name. despite the threat of arrest I maintain my innocence and refuse. Eventually a steward steps in, speaks to the copper and they agree it was all very ott and i am told I will now be ejected.

first time in over 30 years I have been thrown out at a game, and I have done far worse on numerous occasions.

Down the stairs I am accompanied by three stewards, i am told the WPC had been looking for an excuse to get me out all game and they laughed it had taken so long.
At the bottom of the stairs they all shook my hand, wished me a safe journey home and a merry Christmas, one went further and stated he hoped my day hadn't been ruined by the copper.

a ten minute walk to the station and in to the pub on the station whilst waiting for the 18.34 home.
Back in to 1st class and Gav, Ben, James and Al all get on and sit a few seats down.

i go down for a chat and end up sitting with them for the whole journey home.
All top lads, we had a right laugh about anything and everything and a few drinks.

Back in to London and on to the underground once more. On arrival at Victoria it would have been rude not to go in to the pub.

Finally arrived home very drunk, around midnight (I think).

Top day Out, disappointed about the result but the whole experience is what matters.

Sounds like you were proper unlucky there Jon! The police really don't help themselves sometimes - I honestly think they target select people as they come into the ground and will kick them out at the slightest bit of aggro rather than using some 'people skills' and keeping everyone happy. Meanwhile anyone they haven't 'selected' can pretty much do anything and avoid ejection.

Rather like the young lads at Man City. I know they didn't help themselves but they were seen as any easy target. I went to the game with three other blokes and stood all game and they didn't say anything.

And there was me on Saturday, christmas bloody shopping!!!!!

You lucky bar steward Jon, sounded like a great day. Even the chucking out bit sounded reasonably civilised and it was almost at the end, so not too bad there.

Are you planning to do it all again on saturday (without the chucking out bit?), and are you getting the 09.05 from Euston?

yes Brian on the 9.05 from london Houston. Will try and upgrade to Birdyclass on the day.

it was a good day out, I only missed 2 or 3 minutes of the match and the applauding of the players at the end. Stewards were all very decent blokes.

Maybe we should have the bogeyettes from uppercrust. The snot and grolly with pickles is rather tasty.

How about a bargain bucket from KFC. I can get one before it closes at 2am... let it cool down, mature and fester in the bears room for 4/5 hours and we can have KFC first class. I bung the chips to my mate the tramp who sits outside Paddington post office. Cold chips are shyte.

Please don't think of me as ungrateful, but if that's the choice I might just stick to 4 cans of bargain-bucket 5% lager like last time.
