what do you think - dead cert pen or a rather theatrical dive?

I thought the part time chocolate makers gave Newcastle are good test.

It was a foul but the dive/tumble/roll was "over exagerated" and not necessary

huge dive. could tell from the moment he went over.

one of those very debateable ones. probably would have been a penalty if he had continued his run but Duff seemed to sence that he was about to be made contact with so dived before he actually got touched.

i would give him a 10 for that dive

Clearly, the goalkeeper was obstructing The Duffster's run. Stonewall penalty.

Whichever way we look at it, it was an amazing run by Damien.

Great performance yet again by The Mags, following up an excellent win over Liverpool.

Unbeaten in Europe all year....I sense a UEFA victory for The Mags this year...

being completely unbiased, i thought the part timers from Belgium gave a very good account of themselves.

Next round starts to get tough. What odds are you to win the cup?

They had a couple of decent flurries of attacks, apart from that they were kept well under control from Newcastle I thought. Consider, that we normally manage to make a hash of these type of games, at the very least looking unconvincing!

Last night was a routine win.

Next round, we play either fenerbache - who we've already beaten in the group stages, or AZ Alkmaar, who we beat 2 years ago in the competition.
I would fancy us from the last 16, especially with top players coming back form injury. Comsider we got to the quarters 2 years ago, even with Souey at the helm! Also, as I say - we're unbeaten in the tournament, having gone to places like (at the time, not sure of current status) Serie A leaders Palermo, and won.

We're decent odds Paddy! Fourth favourites at 17-1, joint with Benfica.

    Werder Bremen 5.5

    Sevilla 6

    Tottenham 8

    Benfica 17

    Newcastle 17

    RCD Espanyol 19

    AZ 21

    CSKA Moscow 26

    Lens 26

    Paris Saint-Germain FC 26

    Rangers 34

    Blackburn 29

    Bayer Leverkusen 34

I think we can beat Bremen, Sevilla we beat in pre-season, Tottenam beaten twice this season already, 6-3 on aggregate, Benfica certainly beatable.

    Worth a flutter for sure!

agree, decent enough odds, i also feel Espanyol are a decnt each way flutter. Are you due to meet them enroute to the final, if not i woder what the odds then on newcastle v espanyol final 150/1 maybe?

Well, we are as yet unsure who the Toon will face in the quarters!

    I think we're definitely worth a flutter...
