?

Do you feel Watford disrespected the cup and shortchanged the fans who travelled.

Gray and Success scoring, Britos and Wilmot impressive again

All of a sudden a lack of January additions doesn’t look like such an issue

Not the reason I am bashing Sutton at all . As you say we have a much deeper squad, Benitez had already said he was playing a weakened team so clearly we could make the changes knowing we would be at the very least competitive with an excellent chance.of progressing while resting some players and bringing in others for much needed game time . And Gomes nonsensical why ? Do they not need matches to stay sharp in case they are called upon .....

We have come a long way over the last year. Seventh in the league and no longer relying on a superb start and then hanging on while we slide down the table. Able to change several players and still win comfortably at a club that still view themselves as a big club. Nicely done.

So would Barcelona and the 1970 Brazil team.

  5. Did.
According to some toon fans, Rapha has a penalty clause if he resigns, and would pay a sh*tload to Ashley if he walks

  6. And Barnstoneworth United, now that Davitt's back.

Britos looking good when given the chance is a massive bonus. I thought he was toast but every time I've seen his limited game time he has good anticipation.

Yup. I think every year in the Premier means you get more depth. This was illustrated with a lot of brutality against the poor players Newcastle put out.

The amount of criticism Britos gets is bizarre. As long as he's not up against pace, he's our best centre back. His positioning is good and he's easily the most dominant in the air.

A lot of people wrote him off after the Liverpool game without stopping to think that it was his first game in months, Salah was probably the form player in the world at the time, and Gracia shafted him by playing him in a back three with acres of space to cover behind Holebas. I'd rather have Britos than Kabasele on recent showings.

Yeah. I have to eat a lot of humble pie here, but I'd rather have him above Kabasele and Marriapa as long as not against a pacey forward line.

He thought we weren't taking it seriously by making all the changes and hoped we lost. We fully dominated the game and won, cleverly taking this game and the tournament seriously. Which makes him wrong. Like you.

Disagree. Take that approach 100 times, and randomise Newcastle approach and we may lose on average. You can't prove him wrong off one observation.

Equally, we can hypothesize what COULD have happened in every single game, so I'm not sure what value there is in saying that the result could have been different, if Newcastle played a different team, and we played the game 100 times.

I think it's bizarre you're so against Chalobah getting minutes, considering he has the potential to be one of our most valuable assets, and he's working his way back from a pretty horrendous injury. How else is he going to get back to his best?

Apparently Watford made 11 changes for this game, as may have been mentioned once or twice on Final Score. That bald t**t Jason Mohammed seemed to be fascinated by this fact.

2 changes Everton, 7 changes Newcastle, 11 changes Watford. If it's stupid but works is it truly stupid? It's a results business and we did the business and that's what counts.

Decent result for Silva, tbf. Everton can now concentrate on finishing 7th, which is of course a greater achievement than winning the Cup and will be preferred by their fans.

I'm of the view that the FA Cup is important. I also would like Chalobah gets minutes. If he is up to it, I would rather he plays premier league minutes as a sub. If he is not capable of being sub in our premier league team I don't want him in the FA Cup team.

Job done! A comfortable win in the end, with 2 goals, a clean sheet and a chance to rest our most important players, whilst getting a chance to look again at some fringe players.

I thought the ref did well. Obviously listened to Deeney.

Disappointing that we didn't get a chance to see Parkes, but presumably there is still international paperwork to sort out.

I saw 3 categories of player today - some who have put themselves in the frame for a start, some who have made a case for the bench and some who have made a charge that they need multiple games with the stiffs before we either get something out of them or get rid.

    1st team contenders:

Britos, Cathcart and Janmaat all put themselves in the frame. Obviously Cathcart is our incumbent CB, when fit, but Britos and Janmaat also looked like they should be in or near the side, ahead of Kabasele and Kiko right now. I also think that regardless of what people think Hughes' best role is, he is not worse than Sema on the right of midfield, so I expect him to come back in, instead of the comedy Swede.

    Bench

Quina showed lots of enthusiasm and no small amount of ability at times, but showed also that his decision making isn't there yet and could probably do with a few appearances from the bench between now and the end of the season to show he's ready to be Doucoure's successor.

Gray was terrible, like, truly awful. He's an affront to every concept of football, however, he scored a nice goal! Worth having on the bench given how pathetically limited our striking options are.

Chalobah - having disappeared from sight of late, he showed enough to reassure that he's not dead or finished, just more rusty than a rusty old gate which has been seized shut since the 1850s. He needs game time and confidence.

Wilmot - Did OK, but I'm not sure what his best role is. He's not a 1st teamer yet, but should be in and around the bench a few more times before the end of the season.

    Just get rid

Success - scored a tap in but I hate watching him. He's the worst. Spends all his life on his arse gesticulating for a foul that never happened, not being awarded. Utterly sickening player to watch.

Masina - looked woeful. Can't so much as take a decent throw in. Loan him to Udinese. Permanently.

Gray - he sits in both bench and get rid, because he should be ****ed off as soon as possible. He's terrible, truly terrible, but he scored, so let's use him on the bench and hope he bags 2 or 3 goals to persuade one of next seasons promoted sides, or a big Championship team to spend 10m + to get rid of him.
