Obviously one, if not the main area that needs looking at in the summer for whoever is in charge. What do people think of the following; Out: Ellington - Probably recoup 2.5m from Derby if they sell Earnshaw Priskin - 500k to likes of Preston or abroad Hoskins - 500k to Notts Forest as agreed within the loan Kabba - Release Ashikodi - Release Robinson - Back on loan to Hereford, but with a contract extension Means Robinson gets experience and also reduces wage bill for the strikers by around 60k per week In Helguson - 1m ... being told he can leave Bolton tommorow. Eastwood - 1m ... will be hungry to prove Mcarthy wrong. Webber or Connolly - 500k ... one of the two, both to be made available and are capable at Championship level Would give us two aerial threat target players in Hendo and Helguson and then two quicker paced players that can play off them. Also reduces the wage bill and does not cost anything due to those leaving.
David Healy would be available for 26p and a couple of red wine gums. I still think he'd do a Kevin Phillips for someone in the Championship next season
I agree to an extent, depending on who's in charge. If we have a new manager who plays football then i'd keep Ellington and Priskin and ship Henderson out (although i'd do that with AB in charge). Not so sure about Eastwood but i'd agree about Connolly, despite him being a complete wa*ker he's EXACTLY the sort of player we need. I somewhat doubt such a transfer would take place. Imagine the uproar.
You have mainly chosen ex-Watford players, plus Eastwood who is farking shyte. HH is getting on a bit now isn't he? Must be about 30?
What about Stern John - One of the top scorers in the league in a struggling side. Saints are skint and i think he would jump at a move.
I'd have HH back tomorrow and drive Hendo to the station myself (unless he fancies trying out at Centre Half). Connolly or Webber, I'd take each but only let Ellington go at a decent price. Hoskins/Kabba/Ashikodi >>> release. Priskin is the one striker I'd definitely keep, showing allot more hunger and at last is realising there is an offside rule in football.
The fanstastic people at footie rumours claims we'll get DJ Campbell and Jon Stead - however shittu will go to Celtic for 1 mio
Hoskins/Kabba/Ashikodi = Sell or if we can't, release them. Think the above statement is mirrored by most of us. We must hang on to the semi-decent strikers we have at the moment however (Priskin, Ellington and Henderson) until we have signed better and can afford to let them go. Even still, I'd like if we kept hold of Priskin. Have to agree with Bubble that Priskin has looked alot better of late, and is definatley the most technically gifted of our strikers, and will be of great use if we continue to slowly adapt our style of play. A few of the mention names so far would be good (Webber,Connolly) Personally don't care about players history aslong as they score goals for us. The likes of helguson however I'd be against for the simple reason that we need players who will get a majority of this season playing and next. I feel he may fall into the Malky catagory and be unable to make the step up at his age (could be wrong however)
Who scored against us Sunday ... the two oldest players on the pitch. HH's age is not an issue but I'll admit his fitness problems are. Just seen from the original post £1mil HH, I'd say a bit less.
That is true my friend, but I'd like to see a player is hime prime, 25-28 region come in, earn his place, develop around the team and still have the legs to compete fully when/if promoted.
I have to say Connolly would be a very good signing. How likely would it be? He would only work well if we pass it about a bit more though.
