To be fair, if Xisco tried calling any of the clubs we’re trying to do business with, I doubt he’d have the credentials to have his call answered.

I imagine he’s just got a fake office like an IKEA showroom. Disconnected phone, plastic fruit, picture of that tennis bird scratching her ar$e on the wall.

You mock but his influence on these shores is already being felt. Just a few days after Xisco saying we would "fight like animals" look who's copying him:

    He's a visionary.

He basically Dwight Schrute, isn’t he.

Which is apt, because Gino operates much like Michael Scott, without the funny parts.

Are Dwight and Mike playing doubles in Melbourne?
Sound like the new Bob and Mike Bryan.

My only trip to Wimbledon included the Bryan bro’s on Centre Court at the end of the day. Enjoyable.

Though I don’t remember much of it to be honest. 16 year old me was still trying to recover my senses after an afternoon watching 16 year old Sharapova.

Heck of a day to be fair. Also ended up with my mug in the hit movie Wimbledon, starring Kirsten Dunst, which was being filmed on one of the smaller courts between games in the veterans divisions.

Do you think they cleared out the office supplies depository to make room for him, or did they just bung him in the cupboard under the stairs?

I think they also underestimated how much more difficult it is to stay in the prem than Serie A given the increased competition due to the income available. Udinese have stayed in Serie A on a shoestring for years....

It actually stinks of that useless spoilt brat who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and living off his father's reputation but doesn't actually have any clue what he's doing himself. Seen many a TV series like that.

Of course I don't know anything about his background and could be totally wrong but Giampaolo is looking more and more like the genius and Gino just his son.

I actually have no issue with Gino over this. It shows the petty-mindedness of Mike Ashley more than anything else. Gino tried to get Longstaff, taking advantage of his contract situation. Why wouldn't he? He's doing his job to sign a good player on the cheap. It's a no brainer and should be commended.

Ashley holds grudges though, and preferred to lose out on Choudhury rather than loan Longstaff to us, cutting off his nose.

So, we tried to sign a player whose contract was expiring on a free transfer, perfectly within the rules. And people's issue with that is what, exactly?

Tell me what he did wrong again? This just looks like Ashley being a bit of a muppet and has actually stopped one of his players from getting game time.
On a side note, please don't use the C word in that respect. You might not like Gino but the two are worlds apart on the pain it causes

Annoying football people clearly, plenty of players leave Newcastle in and out all the time yet they wouldn’t do business with us. Pair this with few people having already said Watford were getting laughed at in January. Ashley is a muppet yes but Gino looks to be slowly getting there.

And apologies, no offence caused I know cancer is a disease but cancer and cancerous are also used commonly in a negative light to describe many things in books, articles & television across the country. I will refrain from using it in future to avoid upsetting anyone else.

Were either of the two Longstaffs actually willing to come here though? Seems a bit of hot air, and as much as we don't like Gino these days, Ashley is a **** too, so I'm not going to castigate him for this!

But it's not really about that is it? It's about our attempt to circumvent the rules and therefore not have to pay compensation.

We do the same thing when we shout to the heavens about when it involves a young player going to a bigger club for a small fee.

Whilst we think it's all fair in love and war when we want something, as YellowKicks has suggested, we're not particularly liked by other clubs and agents because of the way we do things. And we might want to revel in that but when the owner of another club directly says that they aren't interested in doing business with us, much like we said to Everton once, you can be sure he's not the only one that thinks like that.

But then you're assuming that this wasn't a bona fide attempt to sign Longstaff for Udinese, and that the plan was to park him there for a few months before transferring him across to us. I'm not sure that's a fair assumption - why wouldn't Udinese be trying to sign him for themselves?

Gino might have ballsed up numerous times recently, but it would be an unwise strategy to try and circumvent the rules as blatantly as that I would think, and probably unsuccessful as well as the FA would take a dim view of that type of related party transfer.

I suppose it's hardly beyond reason the player's agent will have blabbed?

"Udinese are weighing up a new move for Newcastle United's Matty Longstaff.

The 21-year-old came close to joining the Italians last summer as his Toon contract ran out.

He then did a major U-turn when he signed a new two-year deal with the Magpies. He has since made only five appearances - putting Udinese and French champions Lille on alert."

If he came as extra depth to Hughes and Chalobah and Louza, I'd be up for this, although I'm sure he'd rather come in with more of a guarantee of first team football. If he comes here as one of those players leaves, well, I'd have some reservations

Can't see us spending big on another midfielder after Louza so this sounds right up Gino's street. Get him to Udinese and he magically ends up here on loan.
