Whilst the hire and fire policy worked initially, maybe because there were some drum beaters in the squad, it is now a busted flush . All recent managers have lost the dressing room on day 1 of their tenure because the manager is not supported by the hierarchy and the players know this .
It appears the man who said he has total control over recruitment doesn’t have total control over recruitment. You think they’re going to give control to some bloke? Nah.
Let's use what's left of this season to give some of the young lads an extended run in the team. Any player that is unlikely to be here in August should be put on gardening leave with immediate effect
The above teams have quality, particularly Blackburn , but they have nuts and bolts in abundance something we are seriously lacking in .
Ah good idea Lloyd. My back yard needs a bit of work, as does the front lawn. I'll make a note of any available players.
The teams above us have also been as inconsistent as we have been. Its utterly remarkable that despite how under whelming we have been recently we are still somehow within reach of the playoffs - which means we will have to carry on watching Davis sulking all over the pitch and Sarr counting down the days rather than giving the younger players a run out in preparation for next season. Also highlights just how ***** this league actually is
Was only able to watch the first half so not sure if it was the same story in the second, but it was depressingly predictable stuff. They come out pressing, getting in our faces, two strikers tirelessly running the channels. We had too many shirkers that didn't like it. When we had possession, how many were brave enough to receive it? Season done, despite a couple of favourable results. We'd need 6 wins from 7 to even have half a chance, and we look like we've thrown in the towel already. Agree with @Lloyd, start building for next season now. No more Sarr and Britt, play Asprilla and anyone sticking around.
On a more positive note, several forum members will be genuinely happy that Luton Town continue to march on to promotion. Somebody is smiling, at least.
Nice work Try and make yourself look like less of a **** because you were so wrong multiple times and still refused to back down from a ridiculous indefensible position It's surely the fault of the people who once again have been proven right
Blimey, calm down mate. Crack a beer, cheers to Rob and the mighty Hatters, and enjoy the warm fuzzy feeling of being so ruddy bloody right about everything
As I see it we are a soft touch . Technically we have a squad as good as any other team however other managers know that we cannot score , take too many touches in the attacking third and have no leaders.
This is amongst some of the biggest nonsense I’ve ever read on here, which is saying something. Actually using Davis never lasting a full game now, as an example just highlights how bizarre it is. Some incredible mental gymnastics that one. And yet more ‘science with this classic: “I heard again today and have from a couple of sources how RE trusted the players to get to fitness goals themselves while working on shape and tactics.”
I’m not sure that’s the case. Louza was meant to be the missing link due to his technical ability but it appears to have all disappeared. Kone isn’t particularly special technically. Sarr is all legs and no tricks. Sema is a bog standard winger at this level. Not even worth talking about the defenders. Cathcart who’s clown like antics led to the first goal today and a goalkeeper who seems like he’s aiming out of play with his kicking. JP and Davis appear to be the only ones with any real technical ability. One who wants to take on everyone from the halfway line like he’s Neymar and the other who’s extreme lack of pace and footballing brain ruins any technical skills he has. Asprilla maybe has potential in that area but aside a few Hollywood passes early in the season hasn’t done much.
I'd certainly like to see that lad from the U-21s - the tall lad who scored during the injury crisis - he's surely got to get in ahead of big Britt and even Davis - seeing as how he'll be leaving soon...and won't be missed. I see we recalled some keeper from his loan at Welling. Myles Roberts. Get him in too. He made some decent saves today to be fair Bachmann, but his kicking is shyte and I've had enough of him. Hope he's sold. https://www.wellingunited.com/myles-roberts-recalled-by-watford/
That does me in about JP. Over and over again he does it. Picks up the ball around the halfway line. Does a spin or trick to leave his marker behind, beats another opposition player. Runs 5 more yards into a knot of defenders, legs bending this way and that, body swerving all over the place and gets dispossessed. As they come away with the ball, either falls over unconvincingly trying to win a cheap foul, or stands stock still with hands on hips angrily glaring at everyone
I take your point although it looks from my uneducated eye that we are very good at possession without a purpose , keeping the ball because we can rather than looking for a forward pass/cross into the box to finish .
Our only real threat today was going to come from set plays, which we had barely any at all. Corner kicks are getting worse and worse. Was it Kone' who took them, who decided to not run from the advertising board to give the ball a bit more lift? Beating the first defender is a critical part of a corner kick, unless you have a "outside of the box" rocket specialist to pass it straight down the line to. We haven't, and beating the first man (regardless of the opposition) is something we clearly fail to work on in training.
When they're knocking it around the back aimlessly, back to Bachmann, out to Choudhury, knocks it to Cathcart, switches it out to Hoedt, back to Bachmann again, repeat, repeat - is it because they're useless and clueless jacklegs, or is it because there's nobody making any movements for them up ahead to pass to? It's hard to see that aspect on TV.
TBF it is not aimless as the point or purpose is to move the opponent's defensive shape from side to side and then take advantage of any gaps that may appear . However you are bang on the money as it appears that we are unable take advantage of any defensive gaps .
I sit in UGT p140. Come and sit next to me and introduce yourself on Friday (there’s a space) and we can see who is right as the match plays out.
I appreciate that, but as you know, the backwards and sideways thing seems to go on and on, until eventually we misplace a pass and give it away, get tackled and lose it, or hoof it through for their defenders or keeper to pick up. Is the lack of effective passing forward because our defenders and midfielders, having done all the shape pulling, are incapable of picking out the pass or is it because the forwards are all standing around watching and not 'showing' for the ball? That's what I was trying to get at.
The fans will clap and cheer them off, no matter how large the defeat is against Huddersfield. It is the Watford fans way..
Wilder was only short term. He has actually made results worse. He must go at the end of the season. A complete reset during the summer. New players, new manager, new start.
I think it’s a stretch to say he’s made results worse. Not improved results is probably a fairer assessment.
I think the results have been worse given the quality of the opposition. His only redeeming feature seems to be that he moaned about the players. If you can’t do anything with them, might as well go now.
