There was a thread on a Forum a few years ago (either here or Big Watford Love) that was titled "Barrett was a c u nt" alluding to said games teacher. It got alot of replies
Not at all. He's done the bare minimum you would expect for a player of his technical ability. We all have such high hopes for Hughes, but he's now 26, and there's not been a single rumour of teams being interested in him. I just don't feel he's improved much at all from when he first joined us. He just gets shoehorned into different positions because of his talent.
It's taken me about 4 hours, but I've just managed to find a positive from today. Before kickoff we needed 10 points to be mathematically promoted. Now that gone down to 8 points. Get in.
Well it's his birthday and he was probably apprehensive about getting the bumps later, particularly if Deeney is involved.
we have a scandinavian supporters club that come over to watch quite often and also a mob of dutch fans from rotterdam, and we re only a tin pot club!!!
Truly terrible, taken till this time for me to be able to post. wasn’t just bad, every player was terrible , even Sarr was loosing the ball. We should have put promotion to bed today but instead lost against a very average side (who were better than us) I don’t think this result has really damaged our automatic hopes as Swansea and Brentford would both have been expected to win today as well and in many ways their draws damage them more than our loss as they are running out of time and games. biggest danger is we now start to lose our luck / confidence
I don't doubt he has his worth. He's a very good player. But if you were to ask me if he's the player I thought he'd become, then I would say definitely not.
You deserved to win, but I think it meant far more to you lot, than us. Be real. We've beaten all of the biggest teams over the past few years (Man City excepted). It was an upset today. Nothing else.
Such a shame that all of our forwards picked today to play so poorly. Prince Philip looked livelier in the box than Sarr, JP and Cuddly Ken. Femenia and Hughes also well below their excellent best. But surely no-one on the pitch came close to being as sh 1t as Luton's Naismith? What a donkey! Got to be one of the worst ever to play at this level - which made it even more frustrating that Sarr had such a shocker.
I mean, he was one of the few players from last season who emerged with credit, it's not his fault others were completely useless. As for why others haven't come in for him, he had surgery over the summer and basically didn't play until January...perhaps a blessing in disguise as having him for half a season is better than having him for no part of the season
Not sure everyone will agree with you but I get what you're saying. In recent games he tends to look a bit leggy in the last quarter. He's not built like an ETE midfielder and is very slight in build. I tend to think the period of injury has stopped him getting up to full fitness, and in his deep mid position he is now expected to be the main source out from the back + a CM dynamo. Probably a bit much for him after missing 4 months and now playing twice a week..?
OK so deliberately missed this game as I had a bad feeling about it. Truth is the "Pozzo" Watford is basically a cosmopolitan bunch of mainly foreign journeymen + a few young brits. The one thing we've struggled with for 8 years is getting the team sharp and well up for a turgid physical battle. Our response tends to be sloppy tackles and irritation, our guys are just not used to rough-neck football. OK we sometimes get it right and class overcomes but generally we can't rely on the modern WFC players being up for rugged game. I'm hoping this game will be another "Coventry moment" that galvanised the team from now on..... Ie we've had a few dodgy games leading to today so Munoz needs to reset them to go again against Norwich.......
It was your first visit to the new Wembleyin the paint pot trophy tickets were cheap ...why did you only take 13,000 to your conference play off final v Wimbledon at the Etihad and just over 26,000 for your play off final v York city...you deserved to win today I'm over it just a bad day at the office we will still go up
15 to Blackburn 11 to Hull 9 to Sunderland 2 to Millwall 26 to Leeds 41 to Newcastle 56 to Everton 33 to Swansea 94 to Brighton............................how we laughed
Yep. Soft underbelly has been a hallmark of several Pozzo iterations. We've always been fodder for the tough, bruiser approach and never worked out how to respond.
I get what others have said about him being decent this season. I don't doubt that at all. But in games like today, I look at him and just feel like he should be dominating it but he's not. I just look at the player he is now vs 4 years ago and think he's barely changed. Technically gifted, but badly lacking in passing range and good for only a few goals a season.
As anyone brought up in Oxhey knows, it’s beating QPR that counts when we ar3 in the same division. The 1 February 2021 was the defeat that could destroy our season. They have taken 4 points off of us this year. Promotion will barely compensate. Today was a poor away performance and a defeat. We now need to get 5-7 points from the last four games. Avoid defeat away, on3 home win and a draw should do it.
Pretty impressive to be upset despite your lot winning. You were the better side on the day and won. Nobody is denying that. No need to get all nit picky and calling out fans' although yes I agree the flare was a silly thing to do and do not condone it. Have a beverage, celebrate your win. We probably won't play each other for a while again anyway.
Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? No one said you would not of done the same had the pen been to us. It's illogical anyway, the result is logged and you banked the points. Good luck to you for the rest of the season.
