Cassetti' header, and which other one came of ours?

How was Schlupp lucky not to get a second? He, along with Anya, should not have been given a yellow initially anyway.

From what i remember, the first 2 fouls of the game were given yellow cards, and if he had been consistent, no one would have been left on the pitch.

And yes i was at the game.

The 'protests' from the fans and players are not unnecessary at all, maybe your lot are just not used to voice from fans, but its your job as fans to put pressure on referees.

But the ref and his assistants were terrible, for both sides. He wanted to get involved and create a headline for himself, but fortunately it didn't happen. But at the same time, he didn't want to get involved in matters which should have brought more attention.

What many fans failed to see from watching the game, was that in the first half alone, one of the linesman changed his decision 3 times. They were some of the worst we have had at the KP all year.

I got to page 18 of this and gave up with some of the rubbish so apologies if others have mentioned some if these points.
I've picked out one or two things that stand out as complete horse sh1t. We're finished, no chance, outplayed, outpassed!?, Doyley best player on our side. I'll start with the last one. I like Doyley and the fact that he has given his whole career to Watford, but he is bobbins, ok at defending but only ok and the rest of his game is no where near championship standard! Outpassed? Really? What game did you watch? No chance. Seriously? 1-0 down and we are easily the highest scorers in the division yet our own fans write us off. I think it's perfectly balanced and could go either way but still think we have an excellent chance. Outplayed. Up until the goal how many shots did Almunia have to save? They had one shot in the first 37 minutes of the second half where he had some excellent chances and on another day we might be talking about an excellent away win.
Game is in the balance but we can do it. Team for Sunday
    Almunia
    Casetti hall Ekstrand
    Anya Briggs
    Abdi Hogg Battochio
    FF Deeney
    COYGB prove the doubters wrong

Doyley is normally ok, but it was his game of his season yesterday, he stopped them doing anything.

If someone's running with Doyley in a straight race or trying to run past him, Doyley wins every time. Other aspects if his game are not up to that of say Cassetti, who is an Italian international. If Doyley made the kind of mistakes like Cassetti made in letting Nugent have it on the goal line 6 yards out, Doyley would get slated, but he doesn't make them, he's solid.

This is not a slur on Cassetti either, he's class in ways that Doyley is not.

if they were the worst offciials u have had this year, i can see why you sneaked into the play offs. all the rest have been lcfc fans.

i thought the ref did a good job and and if there was a slight bias to one team, i would agree wfc maybe got one or two or three decisions their way, big deal. I funk it fair no one sent off it wasn't a dirty game and the players seemed quite handsy pandy touchy cuddley with each other for such a high level game.

How many players have you had sent off this season where the red card was rescinded or however you spell that big word. wfc have had some woeful refereeing, infact some is not a fair proportion.

btw - wfc are due about 4 pens and 3 oppo players to be sent of - to balance the ref karma of the 12/13 season. Ensure your players sneeze when they are told to and move when ordered. or u is in big twuble wid da wef..

And he's a Fulham boy. No bias.

  14. I thought the ref was excellent, gave a yellow at the first offence and showed both teams he wasn't going to stand for any nonsense. Got a couple of decisions wrong like corners and goal kicks but thats hardly the end of the world. Shame we haven't had more refs like him this year.

Agreed. I think the ref had a good game. Would be nice to see more of his calibre in the championship.

If they thought he was bad they've obviously been blessed with some good officials this year. Apart from not giving the second yellow for the halfway line assault I thought he had a decent game.

What people fail to understand is that yes he makes the tackle BUT 60% of the time it's because of his **** pass or weak clearance. Countless times yesterday he'd hit a bouncing ball and slice it or a normal chipped clearance scuffed along the ground or a normal ground pas turned into a horrible pass, 90% of the time falling to a Leicester player. He'll scuff it, it'll bounce of a Leicester player and come back to him!? I know it sounds stupid but I think his orthodox style is why he's quite 'lucky'

The man defies football laws and physics in general.

I didn't say he was biased, just terrible.

Not every tackle is worth a yellow, and as i said there should have only been 1 booking a piece.

If he gave a yellow for every 'first offence' there would have been no one left on the pitch.

For a linesman to change 3 decisions, and the other to give a goal kick when all players are preparing for the corner, just shows how poor they were.

It appears that the foreign influence in your squad has reached your fans, 7 yellow cards in the softest game i have seen at our ground all year. You are quite right about how there was no bite between the players, so i don't see the need to give as many cards, if anything it only added more tension.

7 yellows for 19 tackles is crazy, considering there was only 1/2 'dirty' tackles the whole game.

  19. To be fair Doyley's not really first choice centre back, and I'd be amazed if Zola and crew didn't recognise his limitations when it comes to passing. We've just been extremely unlucky this year to lose Hall, Nos and Hoban to injury, all who imo would be ahead of him.

  20. That's the standard of refereeing in the Prem, ie its done properly to the rules. Physical kick 5hit out of people stuff allowed in the champ is not allowed up there.

You might want to think about getting used to it just in case you make it.

Cynical tackles stopping teams from breaking are worthy of a yellow, championship referees usually don't give those as yellows which they really should as it means teams can ruin games unpunished.

Very lucky to get a 0-1. Our passing was poor. First pass was in pressure and very difficult ending up in LC coming on us on and on. Doyley and Hogg showed some hearth. ALmunia was good. Chalobaa lost 10-15 times ball very very easy. Vydra...two good...ONE really good chance to score. He didnt hit the ball. Really amazing how that killing instinct has gone somewhere. Last chance on Sunday to wake up. We need Forestieri now i think. Ball passing must be more accurate, cant loose ball to opponent this easy, it only makes the game difficult cause u are chasing the opponent and shud try to make it vice verca. 0-1 u cud say we where lucky. Very poor game from our players.

Doyley is solid defensively but his distribution has always been poor. Playing next to players like Cassetti and Ekstrand who are excellent with the ball at their feet really shows that he unfortunately, isn't quite good enough for this team anymore. A good option if we have a few injuries and a club legend though, hope we offer him a new contract.

How can people say we were very poor? If we were very poor we would have been battered 3-0. Yes they had a couple of good chances but so did we. For large parts of the game I thought we looked comfortable without being particularly dangerous. In fact without about 15 mins to go I thought it would finish 0-0. Leicester were dull to watch and I thought we dealt with their plan reasonably well for most of the game. They executed their defensive game plan well which was aided by our failure to sometimes keep the ball. But when we kept it we opened them up with just 2 or 3 passes. All is not lost and there's no reason why we can't beat them in the 2nd leg. The way some their fans were celebrating you would think they've already made the final!

I thought we played quite well but not in the final third.

Vydra puts that one on one away and we're 1-0 up, they have to chase the game and maybe, just maybe we'd have picked them off on the break.

A few months ago he would have. And that's the main difference in us as a side since early March.

That said, we got lucky with a couple of Nugent misses too.

Ball posession in the respect how team can and try to play. When stealing ball from LC the 1st or 2nd passes where too sloppy ending up in LC coming back immediately. Even not under pressure we gave away the ball very easy, specially Chalobaa. Not even pressured. Must focus on keeping the ball in the team. Players have that capacity. I agree with the comments on Doyleys ball control - it very easy ends up in hitting the ball in the air when options not seen. Otherwise defensively very very good and want to protect opponent to score 100%. We will play much better on sunday and win 3-0 or 4-1. Hope its on SKY so global fans can watch thisone! Enjoy the time and back up the team no mather what happends!

Doyley might not be a playmaker, a passer of the ball, a creator and hasn't got the technical abilities of Eklstrand, Cassetti, Pudil etc. Sometimes though you just need your defenders to stop the opposition and Lloydinho does that better than anyone else in our team.

I was more confident in Doyley last night than I was with Cassetti and Ekstrand when faced with long balls over the top.

Ball possession was poor, by our standards anyway. Chalobah having an off night didn't help but you could also see Leicester's game plan at work. They were never going to out play us so their other option was to stop us playing which also meant we didn't dictate the pace of the game. They did this on many occasions but when it failed we opened them up. I can't see them managing to do it again for 90 mins on Sunday. We just have to take the chances when they come.

    Definitely on Sky.

AS I SAY -IF THAT IS ALL U R BEING CRITICAL ABOUT YOU HAVE HAD A SEASON OF FECKIN BRILLIANT REFS.. seriously.

    they are only human

anyway - i had Itchy Anna to be carded at a very nice 8.5/1 - his was defo a yellow ;-) - he had to be consitent after that and I funk he was.

A game may be soft, but if a tackle is deemed dangerous etc the ref should book the player. why can't a soft game still have 7 fairly mis-timed bad tackles? even if there are only 19 fouls...

Obvioulsy the Russian or East Timor mafia have got to him - was just over evens for over 4 bookings.. What is the refs seasons average for yellow and red cards - that will give an answer to how he reffed the game -was he a yellow carder during the season, whats his average - i know it won't be seven but what is it out of curiosity?

Why did the lcfc player roll around like he lost his left testicle when fitz carved hin down.. did he try to use the wfc foreign influence to get poor fitz sented offed?

Anyway Foxy - good luck for sunday and at wemberlleee should you get there.

I used to take footie seriously until the money took over - now it just aint the same and tv and media and internet forums ..

Used to enjoy the Saturday night in the pub getting pished arguing the fact it was or was not a penalty and never seeing it again to get an answer. thiose were the days when refs made decisions, the players mostly got on with it and the fans woudl bget pished discussing it.

We have probably been denied at least 10 penalties since February.

Most of them were game changing.. realistically cost us a lot of points. Even one could've got us promoted.. take your pick.

Who the feck cares about a goal kick decision.

I agree. I did think he tailed off a bit towards the end but he's not had 90 mins of football in a long time. Trouble is he gets criticised for not doing the sort of work Deeney does.

I think the result was probably about fair, Leicester had more of the play although it was probably even in terms of clear cut chances (can't remember them having a shot in the second half but they missed a number of good chances before half time.)
We were poor, created some good chances but were sloppy in possession and gave away a lot of silly free-kicks in dangerous positions, I don't think any player was awful with both Geijo and Vydra linking play up well at times but as a team it certainly wasn't great. Leicester also appeared to be poor, while they have looked ordinary all three times we've played them I assume from their league position they are capable of much better, like us. Perhaps we were lucky Leicester weren't at the races but it is also annoying as you feel we could have won quite comfortably had we been at our best.
Overall, a disappointing night although I think it is definitely all to play for, especially if Leicester play as they did, just very worrying to know that after all the great opportunities we've missed in the last two months we're now in the last chance saloon, got to hope it brings out the best in the team.
