Let's be honest, he was utterly woeful when he signed. Maybe he has potential and I hope he comes good elsewhere if not here, but he didn't show a single stand out quality last season and I wouldn't bat an eyelid at him going.

No real shock. Hasn't really had a good game in a Watford shirt.

Wouldn't mind to be honest, completely failed to live up to his expectations and I don't think he will cut it in the prem either.

Probably be a mass exodus of Mexican fans if he leaves though!

Well he's said a few times how much he's looking forward to playing in the Premier League. So either he's been told he's staying or he's going to be getting some disappointing news soon.

    Wasn't woeful.

Had good games in a Watford shirt.

    Lived up to my expectations.

I'll say no more on it.

Didn't show much quality after signing last season but I have to stick up for him and say he is a wing-back, not a centre-midfielder and it's hard to go to a new league under any circumstances, never mind also having to play out of position
But if we're ditching 352 next year then that doesn't help him either

Effin hell ... not a ball has been kicked and already we're starting to sound like spuds or arse fans.

Quique will soon sort out who stays or goes and who starts, just leave him to it and save any sniping till afterwards.

I have high hopes for him, given time. Now would not be a good time to move him to our sister club. Jan at the earliest, or season's end, but he needs a few months to prove himself.

He was never woeful. Good, but not great is my summary, but his pedigree suggests the best it's yet to come

He was far to weak in the Championship and I can't see things changing really. We can;t afford any passengers.

Layun was played out of position after moving to a new country and had to get used to a new style of football, I think he did well. He deserves a chance of playing in his favoured right back position.

Woeful is a tad harsh. Definitely didn't fit in at CM but I'm pretty sure his wife was still back in Mexico pregnant so that's got to be hard to settle. Give him at least till January as a full back, he did put some good crosses in from time to time.. And didn't he start off crap in Mexico before coming good?

seems better suited to la liga IMO.

Expect he would also prefer to be a starter for them rather than a squad player for us.

I didn't think he was too bad, I think our fans always seem to want one player to blame.

He made a good few mistakes in some of our games, i.e giving the ball away cheaply, but so did Abdi, Watson, Tozser (Battocchio used to do it all the time too), Fernando.

Yes, he was a long way from being a 'Deeney' or a 'Cathcart' type player for us, pivotal to the team, but he wasn't that bad.

It seems when a player does something frustrating in a game, unless he has already become a fan favourite, then some people will jump on his back. This then leads others to focus on the negatives of their game too.

I wouldn't be disappointed if he left because he wasn't a key player for us. I also wouldn't be disappointed if he stayed

Woeful? How quickly some Watford fans forget what a truly woeful player is.

Would you rather have Layun or Ellington in the side?

Now ask yourselves if Layun was woeful.

It is called the Ellinglump scale - everyone is measured against it like it or not

Ellinglump replaced the Butler reading which in itself was an uprating of the Quinnometer

The original Mclenaghan rating was withdrawn in 1975 when it was discredited as a measure of utter****eness given that no other players who ever played in a Yellow shirt were within 2 standard deviations of Alberts score

The measure of pure hardness is still of course the Dixie Hale score where players are scored as a % of Dixie - historians maybe interested that Chopper Harris scored 47 and Ron Yeates a mere 29

The methodology for scoring heart and attitude is measured in Robinsons and the predisposition of a player to be able to withstand a breeze in Wilsons

The PlumleySherwood method is still used by many clubs i understand to score catching ability and the value for money index accepted across the world is the inverse of an Ellinglump

You've forgotten the Doyley index which measures two factors heart vs ability, both inversely proportional to each other. Where the lines cross is compared to where they cross for Doyley offering a positive or negative Doyley rating.
