I may just be a lazy canunt, but is there anyway of making the individual posts smaller ? If a poster has posted only one line, it still leaves a big space underneath on each post. Does this take up server space that could be used elsewhere ? We could probably scroll down half the page that we currently already do if this was the case. Maybe splitting the Member avatar and member stats to both ends of the post ? Like i say, i'm probably being lazy, but just a thought.
It's because of the mini profiles on the left hand side, post sizes will always stretch for the depth of those regardless of post content (unless it exceeds, then obviously it'll be larger)
That requires reworking of the XML or whatever this skin is scripted in, a lot of work for not enough justification in my experience. I've turnt signatures off so they don't appear which helps, try that?
from the little i know about the forum design it sounds like it would take a whole lot of work to split the panel on the left hand side. i dont know how possible it would be, but i suppose if you did not care about any of the stuff then their might be a way to turn it off. however i dont think the userbase as a whole would appreciate this and as i said im not sure it could be done on an individual basis.
edit to that last post. you can decrease the size a little bit by turning off avatars in the user cp/general settings. it decreases the size of each post by the size of the users avatar i think.
