    Saints reject £5m Jones approach

Southampton have turned down a £5million bid from Derby for striker Kenwyne Jones, complaining the bid "substantially undervalues" the player.

    1) This is a ridiculous price for an average player

    2) It shows how desperate Derby are.

    3) How is he worth more than Hameur?

    4) Southampton are deluded.

Rejecting bids for players they want to keep. Nothing wrong with that.

    Totally agree.

He's worth no more than £1,500,000!

Can't believe Saints didn't take the money and do a runner...what are they thinking? :dismay: Although I think it's good news for the rest of the league...Saints desperatley need to re-shape their defence and midfield and £5,000,000 would have come in very handy!!

    I'm glad they've kept him...although i'm amazed they've turned it down!

5 million for him is a joke, Derby must be desperate, how about we offer them Kabba for 2million?:)

Fair play to Southampton for rejecting that. Looks like they have sold Pele to WBA for 900k instead.

I nearly fell off my chair when I read yesterday that they'd rejected £5m for him!

yup. although i was speaking to some villa fans on xbox live yesterday and they seemed to believe he was worth more and they will make a huge profit on him in the future.

So, by today's valuations, Kenwin Jones is a better player than Valeri Bojinov.

Saints have done well in the transfer market in recent times, by holding out and waiting until someone bids ridiculously over the odds for their player, rather than asking for more, then just capitulating like a weak kitten when someone offers substantially less than you have publicly declared you are prepared to accept.

Not forgetting the vast sums of money brought in from the sales of Walcott and Bale.... whats that amount to £25mil???

And that's the nail on the head mate. The board at Saints have said Burley has no money to spend unless he sells!! That's ridiculous! Walcott for £7,000,000 (another 3-4mill on top), Bale for £5,000,000 (another 5mill on top), Beattie to Everton £7,000,000 and Baird to Flem £3,000,000....but yet their board says if he wants to strengthen he needs to sell more!!!

My point is, we should be thanking our lucky stars we're not being robbed in the way Southampton fans are!!! Our club is actually run very well in comparison to a lot of others!!

If we're talking about Bouazza being sold for less than quoted then yes, I agree...Aidy looks silly now for saying it...BUT at the end of the day £3-4 million for a player that is inconsistent, and not IMO as good as McAnuff is very good business!!

Let's just see where we are this time next year...I remember all this chat before our last stint in the Chumpionship when HH was sold!

We'll be fine lads! Trust in Aidy! :sign8:

I'd like to trust in Aidy, but what once could be considered hilarious ramblings from a robust northern fellow now seem to be little more than an attempt to confuse supporters into believing him. Such as this crown jewel and little diamond business with Hammer B.
