You can say what you like about John Terry but he's a top geezer.

I don't get particularly star struck but I was well impressed when I met him with my Mrs a couple of years back and he invited us round to his mansion.

Shame was that I had to work late that evening so Mrs Moose had to go on ahead.

John was brilliant! He said 'No hurry, pop round when you are ready mate'.

Him and Mrs Moose hit it off well too, which was good because that kind of thing can be awkward. She once met Jason Drysdale and he and I got on like a house on fire, but they didn't have much to say.

Top gaff John's got too! It's enormous. It took his wife half hour to find the pair of them when I arrived.

    Cautionary tale...
World Cup 1998: As USA coach Steve Sampson announces the lineup for the USA's ill-fated effort, he leaves off the captain, one John Harkes.

    Why?

John Harkes was banging the wife of his teammate, USA star striker Eric Wynalda. Sampson felt it had become such a distraction to the team that he felt he had to cut him, even before the biggest tournament of the USA's existence.

The result was absolutely utter failure, with the team finishing dead last, despite having probably the most talent ever, possibly to this day, for the USA.

This would be like if John Terry banged Wayne Rooney's wife, rather than Wayne Bridge's ex-girlfriend.

Eric Wynalda, now a commentator on one of the only shows that features football in the USA, spoke about it publicly for the first time since 1998 Saturday. Up to now it was widely rumored, and since football is so under-reported here in the US, it never got into media.

I might be a little concerned about the England team running up to the World Cup...maybe.

    He should go.

Good footballer, cr*p bloke. There's rumours of much more unsavoury behaviour in the press too...

Everyone says it should be judged solely on 'football reasons'. Trouble is, this kind of activity will leak over into the dressing room and consequently the pitch. He has to go for football reasons...

    Silly, silly man IMO
