Or he wants a bunch of experienced cloggers. And youngsters who can run fast . Or just happy to do what the board say .? (Saying he thinks we don’t need many new players..)
With Raphina going for £60mil, I can see why we would want £60mil for Pedro. 5 years younger than Raphina but putting up some very good numbers in our woeful team last season.
https://tbrfootball.com/report-joao-pedro-now-one-step-away-from-joining-leeds-on-loan/ saying that Leeds are looking to buy Sarr and loan Pedro Bet we wouldn’t even get replacements in.
I don’t entirely get the logic of a team who narrowly avoided relegation on the final day buying up players from a team who were resoundingly relegated. It’s never really worked for Everton either.
They would probably think/say that our relegation wasn’t because of Sarr and Pedro and if it wasn’t for them it would have been far worse?
Oh defo, but just as this season it was the unbalanced nature of the team….. defence and midfield is so much weaker than when we went up last time or came down the season before
We won't be letting Perdro go out on loan.. I think even the "COG" etc would think that is a step too far! Unless it's a different one we don't know about. I mean we have so many players under our name could have 2 with the same name.
Sarr is diabolically inconsistent. Worldies one minute, worst penalty since his last missed penalty the next. Pedro is fancy, looks like a super footballer but plays centre forward and didn't even score 10 in the championship. I wouldn't mind losing either.
Maybe true but both are much better than the alternatives we have .. Unless we really did go on a striking spending spree . I mean least they can produce a bit of skill and quality..
Pedro was 18-19 in the Championship during one of the strangest season's in football. Nothing like criticism for absolutely no reason.
And as I say it's not like he hasn't played well in recent games or keeping someone better out of the team.. I know there is a real downer understandably on most of the squad but Pedro shouldn't be one of them.
Bizarre. Sarr is inconsistent, sure. But the use of the work ‘diabolical’ is hyberbole at its finest! Was great at this level last time round and has been pushed from pillar to post in terms of coaching during his time here. And more fool you if you expect an 18/19yr old South American to score more than 10 goals in his first full season in the English league - lower league no less! JP has also rarely played as a centre forward consistently for us. Convinced your post must be a joke looking back.
I'm gonna get on board with this Jao Pedro as a boo boy thing. It takes Chutzpa to turn on a player like him given so many other soft targets. I'm gonna go all in on this with you.
Infuriating, for sure, but I'd take 13 goals and 10 assists* from anyone, even if it means apart from that he does very little *Sarr's goals and assists last time we were in the Championship, via Transfermarkt, which includes penalties won as an assist
Looking like the end of an era. If these 3 go we would have less quality in the squad than at any time in the last 9 years. If you look at our best 11 under the Pozzos, something like: Gomes, Kiko, Prodl (2016/17), Ake, Holebas, Capoue, Hughes, Doucoure, Deulofeu, Dennis, Richarlison, we have fallen so far in terms of quality. Back to square one really. But with with an extra zero on the debt......
I think there's bound to be something of a downturn in quality following two quick relegations, irrespective of the management of signings. However it's indicative that, at the end of last season we all accepted that Sarr and Dennis would inevitably leave but now we are hoping against hope that one of them stays and that's because of the underwhelming nature of the signing to replace them and others in the squad.
It's because our transfer inbounds have been so consistently poor for so long now that the prospect of replacing great, good or even adequate players is low. We are massively on a downward trend since that cup final in terms of successful buys.
Agreed. I put the blame firmly at the feet of Giaretta. A total dud of a Sporting Director. He needs removing from his post and Watford to hire someone that can actually spot a good player at an affordable price. A club like Watford lives and dies by it's success in the market. We can't afford to get it wrong too often. Only 2 good signings in 30 is a terrible ratio.
Giaretta does what Gino tells him to do, Mogi is our real SD by the look of it. Giaretta might have a list of decent players but might have been told to go through Bayats agency first. The buck stops with Gino always. Seems we have a few yes men in the club that are quite happy to pick up their wages while soothing Ginos ego. Easy money.
The bucks stops with Gino in terms of who he hires, but that guy has to deliver. He's supposed to be a specialist. You hire a plumber to fix your boiler and pay him for the service. You don't hire a plumber then fix the thing yourself. It's down to Gino to hire the best people for the job, and this is where he's clearly failed. It's down to Gino to replace Giaretta, but it's not down to Gino to identify the players we sign. Gino will sign off on the deal and will have the final say, but he will be heavily influenced by what his "experts" are telling him. What surprises me, is why is Giaretta still at the club.
I get your point but I fear the problem is Gino is a control freak. I don't know what Giaretta's actual brief is, but I can't believe that any DoF would be happy with a policy of just calling the club's pet agent and buying their clients for what appears to be inflated fees. I suspect, based purely on my own instinct, that Gino is choosing this policy and I don't think it's because it's good for Watford FC.
After his departure Giraldi said that while there was plenty of animated debate between him, Gino and Scott the final decision was always Gino's.
I would rather keep them if they want to improve and want to be here... But won't lose any sleep if they go. Pedro flatters, I think Bayo or Rey could be more prolific and more effective for us (but less fun to watch). Sarr is obviously too good for this level, but I think he's probably had enough of playing for us and is seeing his glittering career fall away. Better he leaves imho.
