He showed those "injured" scumbags what a proper pro does. It'll be sad if/when he goes but he seems to have a great attitude and after he wins Championship Player Of The Season the world will be at his feet
I think we can take from today that although he might be sold if the right offer comes in, there are no right offers on the table or in the pipeline at the moment. All the recent twitter talk was bollox.
According to Alan Nixon (who I'd say is fairly reputable journo), we've lowered our asking price to £35m
He was the first journalist I saw to mention Garner but that was only an hour or so before he was announced. He seems very hit and miss overall.
I think he has a bit of a shotgun approach to transfer rumours. Comes out with 10 fairly reasonable stories that are hard to disprove, and if 3 or 4 are correct he is happy to take the credit. Leventhal has reiterated in his article today that the asking price for Sarr is still £40-50m.
Seeing his name in the lineup was nearly as good as the feeling of beating the scummers. Linked up well, great touch and his spins off the defenders were class as were Pedro's.
There could be some truth in this. Conceivable that our financial predicament is a lot worse than some of us think.
I can’t see why we would lower our asking price for Sarr. If he goes it clearly reduces our chances of getting back up this season, which has a greater impact financially. He doesn’t appear to be pushing for a move either. That said we do need to reduce our debt, so I’m hoping we can ship some players out soon e.g Pereyra and Capoue, Pussetto. Given we seem to have a lot of injuries to players like Gray, Hughes, Del B, Wellbeck we may need to wait until January and bring in some cash in for them, as I’m not sure clubs will want to bring in injured players.
Player puts in a decent performance in his first game of the season, in itself an indication of his willingness to stay and our desire for him to do so, and his asking price drops £5-£10m? It's either part of a cunning plan to lure in a buyer, a sign the market has plummeted overnight, the result of a strangely timed reassessment of the clubs financial needs or completey bogus.
Alan Nixon was the journalist who reported in the Sun (at the end of August) that Liverpool were prepared to meet the £40m asking price for Sarr, but that story turned out to be incorrect. As far as I am aware, Nixon has no specific links to Watford.
I have been following https://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Sport/Football/Championship/Watford which just seems to be a collection of the most ludicrous rumours you can find, on this a few days ago it was reported we had upped the price to £50m , so I don’t think anybody other than Watford and a few suitors have a clue, would be surprised if we had dropped to £35m but who knows
This is what I look at. For me, its about separating the ridiculous sounding and the less ridiculous sounding, and seeing if the less ridiculous sounding happens or not.
true it’s an insane website , guess there is some truth in there sometimes, but a lot of it is click bait at best
Maybe it means 35m upfront and then another 15m in add ons or something. No way we lower our asking price by 15m just one week after the interest dies off.
Not sure if it's been mentioned previously, but maybe a sale and loan back (for the season) might be possible?
Why would he do that? He has shown that he is more than good enough to play in the PL; and Why would the buying club spend £40m+ on a player and then loan him back ? He is here because he is professional and he can see clubs are still interested even though he is in the championship. He isn't going to be dashing back here if another club signs him.
Dean Smith said this weekend they want 1, maybe 2 more players and they are done. He highlighted he wants a striker and a CM so I’m not sure Sarr fits the bill for what they want.
Under FFP Villa cannot afford £40M and why would he sign for a club battling relegation(again!) He might be a late signing for one of the big 6(or is it 7 or 8 now?) but none of the other clubs can afford him and,at the moment,he isn't a difference maker between survival and relegation. For less than half the money I'd take Gerry over him. Just imagine the damage those two would do together in the Championship. We would be impossible to defend against. If only...
Has it been confirmed he was injured? In his press conference after the game, Vlad said it was due to cramps, though I don’t suppose it’s beyond the realm of possibility his translation is a little off. Hopefully it was just cramp, although it didn’t look that way at the time. Very typical of his career if he’s out for a few weeks, having put in a really commanding display yesterday.
In the short term FFP really only affects them if they qualify for a UEFA competition. The PL's FFP rules are (deliberately) so lax as to be pointless.
Surely we would have just accepted 35 million from Liverpool last week instead of waiting an extra week.
Just ***** LOL at anyone who thought he'd never play for us again. But just ***** LOL at anyone who thinks he'll ever play for us again now.
While I agree he’s not leaving for £35m, we can’t pay the shortfall in revenue by keeping an expensive asset. The only way to cover the shortfall is to pay for it.
As long as we are very confident of getting £50m a year from now. That would be a great move if he can also make the difference between prom and no prom. The issue is cashflow between now and then and whether we need the cash to settle debts as they fall due.
United have made an enquiry about Sarr apparently. And we will hold firm for £40 million... https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...-united-enquire-watford-forward-ismaila-sarr/
