Not sure that I get this, Leicester apparently signed him for £28m on a 5 year deal. How much do we think he will cost? Seems to have a decent scoring record wherever he has been, even so not exactly floating my boat.

As was mentioned earlier in the thread, would think this may be a player swap deal because I would be surprised if we would lay out that sort of money or if Leicester would take a massive hit on him. Strange that the rumour is still being reported though.

Slimani - Goal every 184 mins in EPL of which 11% were penalties. 9 goals inc 1 pen

Deeney - Goal every 272 mins in EPL of which 39% were penalties. 23 goals inc 9 pens.

 

I wonder if the hypothetical swap deal would mean that we wouldn't have to pay Walsall their 20% sell on fee i.e. about £5mill

What is there to see in a full season which we don't know already? His value will decrease a lot after yet another underwhelming (perhaps even injury plagued) season.

Signing Slimani in place of Deeney would be excellent business. Okaka is better than Troy and also likely on a lower wage.

There is no way Deeney will be effective in Silva's style of play. A straight swap for Slimani would suit all parties. We need to keep Okaka as he is a better option on the bench to Deeney.

I'm a big fan of Deeney. But you only have to look at Slimani's record in Portugal to know he's an upgrade. Anyone saying it's like for like is wrong. And I go back to my original statement - I like Deeney. But let's not let loyalty blind us.

In the last year? As good as Deeney's on less football. I think so anyway. I like Deeney, I'd keep him over Okaka. But I think Slimani is better for what Silva wants to do and he knows him.
