Reported to be linked with us in this Manchester Evening News article: "Now Academy product Miller looks destined for the exit door with Watford and Preston both keen to sign him"
We were linked with him a little while ago and I believe he is a two footed winger, which is something Aidy has recently been reported as saying he wants. So this story could well have a strong element of truth IMO!!!
Can't see the big fascination with bringing a striker in TBH. Was re-watching the game yesterday on sky+ and the commentator's/pundits were making a lot of positive remarks about our strength in depth on the bench. Aidy made two good subs on Saturday that changed the game: Henderson and Kabba on for Priskin and Smith. That is strength in depth, and that's not including Hoskins who wasn't in the squad (people seem to be forgetting that Hoskins was 2nd top scorer in League One in a struggling side until we signed him in January). Ashikodi is also to come back in aswell. Should one of our strikers get injured (King and Henderson did at the same time a couple of years ago) we can bring in someone on loan to cover...just as long as it isn't Trevor Benjamin :dismay: We're fine with what we have IMO.
We are well covered in the striking department unless Hendo moves to Preston who are going to come back in for him. However, we do need a playmaker / creative midfielder. Can we afford to wait for Williams and Francis to get fit - i would like to see a decent loan until January.
I agree Colin. I think Williamson desperatley needs a partner in midfield that can pass the ball and make things happen. I'd have Rinaldi in there until Williams returns.
Latest News... Harry Hornet signed by Scunthorpe after turning down a $25M contract with Watford... Am I missing something ? We have the core of our Premiership team and have plenty of cash in the bank, which surely makes us promotion contenders at the very least. So why can't we attract anyone ? I have three possible explanations; 1. Being a Watford player is perceived as the kiss of death to a player's career. 2. We are too cheap (or sensible) to pay market rates 3. The other players rate our current players as better than themselves and so do not expect to get into the first team Frankly, I'm inclined towards number 3. Our defense was pretty good last year - sure we got beat a lot, but we rarely got whipped. Even a good team should expect to let in one good/lucky goal per game. Our forward line was the problem last year, but that was mostly because King was out for 6 months. He's back, Priskin has matured, Hendo has a proven record at this level, as does Kabba and Hoskins is in the wings with a good record at division 3 and the assumption that he can still improve. We are weak on the wings, but are we really looking to replace Smith or McAnuf ? I don't think so, I think we are looking for a backup to them. As for midfield... for 27 years, Watford midfielders have had to work twice as hard than for any other team and never get any credit.
Thats a top notch post. I never really looked at it like that. No 3 sounds good to me. I just hope the real reasons are not 1 or 2.
really should have got him did v well in 1st city game and great goal yday but we didnt so .... we will have 2 win the champ without him easy!:]]
Because of one decent goal? Please! At least lets see how he's doing after 10 or so matches before making grandiose statements like 'big miss'.
Well after I saw the way he used his blistering pace to score the goal, and how he used his hench strength to score the goal, and how he used his cool composure to score the goal, I couldn't help but think we missed out
Miller has made it clear he has no intention of staying with the Baggies regardless of how they do. If we do get a loan i hope it will be someone rather more open to making it permanent, rather than some youngster with an attitude who thinks they are too good for our club. Good goal though (Eastwood also looked impressive for Wolves)
