According to that journal of record, All Nigeria Soccer, overweight, under-motivated Isaac is supposed to be off to Leganes in La Liga on a season long loan. Bovvered? http://allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=24309
Shame because he does have potential... It was obvious in that game against 'Boro away last season where he tore their defences to pieces and pundits gave him MOTM for his efforts that he does have the ability to become a good player. However, after that game he was never really the same in the little time he was given and his failed attempts at being as good as he was at Boro became quite irritating. He either has an attitude problem or he is very prone to injury (or both) because even Silva has kept him out of the squad. That said, maybe a season long loan is best for him.
Shame, but he quite clearly has the talent. If he's not kicked on since last season, then it's his own fault.
yes he did. Hughes and Success waiting in the wings to make the match day squad. Guess we will find out tomorrow night.
Can see him going out on loan. Not a Prem player. That home game v West Ham... missed the late sitter... and just had the look of Liga2/Championship level Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He's already played in La Liga and did ok so dropping down to La Liga 2 won't help his development. Staying around Silva might be the best thing for him at this stage.
Pure speculation, but if it's Hull, might that pave the way for Grosick? (And hopefully Carrillo too)
I'm a big fan of Success. I liked what I saw of him when he broke into the team. He made a big difference coming on at half time against Arsenal and he destroyed Middlesbrough. I lay a lot of the blame for his lack of development with Mazzarri. He just did not use him enough and he has not progressed. In fact I think he's regressed. When I saw him in the pre-season friendly against Sociedad he looked a shadow of the player I remember. Of course the player himself has to take some responsibility. Just like Deeney last season, he's come back far too heavy. A short term loan maybe what he needs, as long as he plays. Get some minutes on the pitch, shift some weight and come back roaring.
The U23's are currently beating Hull U23's 6-0 (!!) so I doubt they'll be wanting to do any business with us now.
Agree about the Mazzari effect. He managed to rip the confidence of all of the players and that affected Success' development massively. In his last couple of appearances under Mazzari he was poor. Against Real Sociedad I thought he looked to be getting back on track and I'd hoped that Siva would continue his improvement. I say give him until the end of September training under Silva and see if he adjusts, if not then loan him out until January and reasess him but the loan needs to be a team that will play him regularly.
Honestly, I reckon he should go out on loan. I cant see him getting game time with us unless he is coming off the bench. For someone of his talents and potential i would prefer him to be out on loan, getting first team football so he can come back at some point sharper. A fully fit and sharp Success along with Richarlison would terrorise any defence. I reckon that Richarlison needs a while until he fully comes into fruition, so until then i reckon success should go out on loan and try to gain/Regain the form he showed at boro.
He was restricted to cameos last season and always had too little time where he always tried to do far too much. In some ways it was a bit like situation with Igahlo, he was shot by the end because every time he got the ball he made completely the wrong decision. It would've benefitted Success to have had a run of two or three games starting last season so he could've just relaxed and not worried about trying win the ballon dor in 5 minutes. Again all down to Mazzari.
I'd keep Success at the club personally. Doesn't take up a squad place and I think he could be lethal as an impact substitute. He's direct and has both pace and strength which in itself will cause problems against tired defenders. Imagine being a defender and seeing somebody as powerful and direct as Success come on in the 70th minute when your legs are starting to tire. Hopefully he gets a chance to prove himself tomorrow and he takes it.
I also think that a loan to the Championship would suit Success. Don't buy the line about Mazzari. The club are protecting a young player who clearly has had issues - not sure exactly what they are. Could be fitness/ conditioning/ stamina or weight issues. There are hints of discipline issues. When Silva says Success is a 'Watford project' that sounds like a Gino briefing. I have no doubt Success is EPL quality but he now needs to play regularly AND make the most of his opportunities with WFC. Much will be down to him rather than the coaches, who I am sure recognise his talent. Richarlison is a great example of what can be achieved in a short period of time.
Send him out to a top Championship side until January I reckon. Get him playing week in, week out and see how he progresses.
You are correct. I thought that the loan window remained open until the end of September but this appears to have been stopped last season.
Lots of talent, recognised at an early age but just not developing at the required speed he should be, which both he and the club get frustrated with. If he's not ready to be disciplined both on and off the pitch, then I fear he will never make it here. I hope I'm wrong but Silva and our previous managers have wanted a team that is willing to track back from forward positions and I just don't think Success buys into that. Club record fee (at the time), 21 years old, and been adapting for a year and still nowhere near ready, only one international cap to his name which suggests the national manager has issues with him too - I think we are entitled to be expecting much more of him and if he's not willing to seriously knuckle down and show it then I'd loan him or try and recoup as much as we can.
I find it hard to condemn a player who rarely gets a chance but something must be amiss if a highly expensive player doesn't get a look in under 2 bosses.
According to a Hull fan on Twitter, the U23's played against Hull's U18's because do many of the U23's are in the first team squad due to all the outgoings and pending outgoings. So we are probably not as good as 6-0 would suggest
That sounds like the kind of excuse Kewell used to come out with after his side had just got well & truly stuffed
He needs to play tonight and have a strong game. I recall Doucoure had a fairly poor evening in the League Cup last season and was written off by manager and fans. Look at him now Sent from my G8141 using Tapatalk
Agreed play him tonight. Loan to a Championship side (free if necessary as long as theres a guaranteed startign place if fit) with a good developer type manager for the season with a January recall option. You can't judge players based on bad performances or development last year. Mazz managed to turn excellent players into toilet so he's not likely to be able to develop players with potential.
Agree with everyone in that He just needs game time. When I've seen him play (very limited) he looked good but this is pre mazarazzi. If he's not going to be in and around the first team then get him out on loan as there's a hell of a player in there somewhere we've just got to get him fit and confident
