Is Aidy The Finished Article?

Aidy has proved to everyone that he is a good coach, has novel ways of thinking and doing things and is a bright prospect for the future.

    To me there only two areas where he still needs to prove himself;

    1. Can he operate in the transfer market, and
    2. Can he handle “superstar” footballers?

Only time will tell with regards to point two as he has not had any to look after so far. With regard to point one the jury is still out – he has had mixed returns – this January will give us a better idea.

And if I was the club I would be looking for another young innovative, unknown coach to work alongside Aidy to ensure continuity (assuming Aidy would have no problem with this).

Not even close to being the finished article! Still very inexperienced, but so far has a good track record with dealing with 'baggage' players such as Marlon! This is why i think Ashikodi could be a good signing!

One thing i will say is that perhaps he needs to learn when the right time is to bring on a sub and what type of tactical change it is!

For me he made the wrong sub changes at Newcastle and Arsenal at home! Bringing Francis on both times was negative and cost us the game!

Going to be a great manager though!

Aidy is not a finished article. He's a good manager at the moment but needs to improve quite a bit to become great.

Aidy's strongest points thus far are:
    - his people management skills
    - His coaching abilities
    - His Youth development skills
    - His way of handling the media/fans etc.

    Improvement areas are:
    - Tactical knowledge
    - Ability to adapt the style of play to a given situation

    The unknowns are:
    - His abilities in the transfer market
    - His knowledge of international markets
    - His ability to handle foreign players
    - His ability to handle big stars

I have no doubt he will become a great manager in English football. But at the moment he's shown he's a top manager at CCC level - but he hasn't shown me anything that proves he's a top PrL manager. I'm sure he will over the cause of this season - but he hasn't so far.

January will tell us a lot about Aidy. As i said on another thread he is now under more pressure personally than ever in his career. Everyone is looking at him to see how he responds and performs under the microscope.

I don't think he's under any pressure at all! Was GT last time? no, fair enough we had higher expectations, but as Graham Simpson (Joint 73rd richest man in football with Thierry Henry) said, we may have gone up too early this season, he has turned us around from the dommy days of, dare I say this name, Via... viall... sorry I just can't say it.

Aidy is under no pressure, if we do go down, we will be straight back up

Agree with a lot of the above.

has the talent to go all the way, but far from the finished real deal.

Agree with a lot of the above, and I'm just glad to have him as our manager. Good at dealing with press, players and fans and he isn't affraid to make changes to the team. As for the transfer market he has found some great bargains and some mysterious signings (the first 3/4!)

Anyone remember the tactics he played in his first game against Burnley - when ever they had a throw Aidy got Bruce Dyer to stand in front of the thrower! Glad he has stopped that now!

Aidy is more of a finished article than Sven Boring Nokia. However when Keith Burkinshaw says he is still learning at 70, I would say no manger in the world is a finished article. The need to keep learning and experiment with new unused ideas in trianing, tactics and matchday activities means there is not a manager in the world who is the complete article.

Aidy will become a top notch manager, as yet his achievements are just a raise of the eyebrow, one to note for chairman from other clubs.

He might have wanted to keep Dyer just so he could continue with that tactic...

I think Aidy needs to find some form in the transfer market too. We will see how much he has learnt come Jan 31st.

David i said that he is under more pressure than he has ever been before because everyone is watching how he performs in the transfer window. we all know persuading quality players to come to us at the moment is a very tough job.
