It’s not nice to see them squished though or a deer dead at the roadside with its guts hanging out.

Dangerous for people hitting large animals too.

 

Just buy some farm shop tomatoes . Slice them up and consume as you would except one slice.
Place the slice with seeds in a pot and cover with compost and put by kitchen window around Jan/Feb .
Hey presto ! Your own farm shop tomatoes will start to grow .

 

Yes I hit a small deer on the A41 a year or so ago at 80mph, sorry I mean 70mph. Bumper and wing smashed. Deer was a write off.
That was just a small muntjac.

 

I agree. I just couldn’t resist having a pop at the animals who drive their (usually German and/or huge) vehicles dangerously.

 

An old friend I had used to drive a small muntjac. Yugoslavian era car iirc. Hard to find parts now I guess

 

I can tell him where he can find some spare parts on the A41 near Hemel, if he's interested ?

The worst for getting squashed in the road is pheasants.

They breed massive quantities of them, all fat, stupid and barely able to fly so that the rich people can shoot them easily I suppose. A fair quantity get splattered by road traffic before they can be blasted by Lord Firedamp's 12 bore. The sides of the roads are some times littered with them.

They invariably seem to choose to do a terrified rapid waddle and failed take off directly towards you, rather than going back into tbe hedge they emerged from.

I got a massive crack in the top of my windscreen from just such an incident a while back, where he nearly made it high enough, but not quite.

Have also taken out a few rabbits in the evening dusk round the country lanes. Another one that won't be making it to watership down.

Douse it in this:



Extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, garlic, basilic.
Makes any salad instantly edible.
Yet is also legere/light, so no threat to that trim tum.

 

Cheese. Lots of cheese. Either grated or crumble over some Feta. Even small cubes of halloumi make a salad good

 

Careful deer, Ike could easily Turner genst you.
