Entirely agree. It's the best thing about the forum, perhaps the best thing about supporting WFC.

Entirely disagree. It’s the worst thing about the forum for me. But let’s just agree to disagree… or do you want the last word?

    How about a poll?

Keep the insults - the more personal and offensive the better, or learn to love your fellow fan?

So to summarise, HB1 is leaving the forum because for the last 4 or 5 games, a group of posters (including one who sanctimoniously repeats ‘be kind’ to randomers in another thread), have come on the match thread, not commented on the match at all but have found themselves offended at someone saying ‘I told you so’ because he did indeed tell them so.

Can’t wait til I start mentioning that I called Ismael being an abject failure from the start. Even when everyone else loved him. Even before HB1.

I think it's my turn to have the last word. And I've chosen it:

But this ‘have the last word’ argument is done to death. If someone me wants to post, who is anyone else to belittle them by using the ‘you just have to have the last word’.

And it’s often the case that people who say it are purely trying to antagonise the other party. Because you’re essentially saying ‘I don’t agree with your opinion but if you post one more time, I win because my point is proven’

I’d say that’s just as immature, probably worse to be honest. Rather than use this as a tactic, surely it’s better to just not reply to any post that might make you want to say it.

Read and noted. well done Mods The Millwall thread became ridiculous having to weed out all the bickering messages to read some great messages on the actual game.

It's just an internet forum you maniacs.

HB1 is an absolute whopper, but he's OUR whopper. How will this place be any better without him? It's already dying as it is.

I'd rather read 10 pages of people calling each other q unts than read a forensic dissection of our tactics written by some tyt who's never played the sport beyond the primary school playground (no offence, Andrew French).

    Just listen to yourselves.

    Christ.

I think a lot of people are either deliberately putting their head in the sand, or have very short memories.

HB1’s posts are generally very good, insightful and informative, but they also like to deliberately bait people and take very contrarian views every season in a bid to gain attention and wind people up, and it very often works (and I very often take the bait myself) hence why we are where we are now.

They don’t need to leave the forum, they just need to stop with the deliberate trolling antics. Some people may be happy to accept the nonsense for the benefit of the good stuff from them, and that’s absolutely fine by me, but let’s not pretend that’s not the situation here.

I’m sure this post will get deleted, but somebody needs to confront the elephant in the room that this happens every single season with this particular poster.

There’s more chance that Watford finish in the top 6 than @hornetboy1 leaves this forum. He’s got too much to say. And I find more than half of it is worth reading.

I noticed that he said that he would like to stop posting, for his own sake. If he needs to do that, then fair play. Addiction is addiction, whether it’s substances or the internet or anything else. He’s got to do what is best for his own mental health, and for the sake of those people in his life who have to live with him.

I have personally been massively affected, in various ways over the years, by social media, and the destructive power of the internet. I am one of those people who received a diagnosis of ADHD in my adult years, after many years blighted by increasingly regressive submissions to distractions. I have found it absolutely necessary to take a step back (not so much from this forum. I am not a prolific poster here).

I like to read stuff on here, because there’s knowledgeable people who post. @hornetboy1 is one such person. @lowerrous is another. (Both divisive, and both very stubborn and compulsive, but both worth reading, generally.) I even appreciate @Keighley who knows sweet fa about football, but is reassuringly pedantic about grammar. (I like making sweeping statements like that and I like the likes of @Relegation Certs sweeping statements about whoppers and Jamie Moralee.) I even enjoy @wfcmoog and his need to share his misery with his other logins. Hell, I like all of you miserable b@&7ards. And I admire @Burnsy for his honesty in his own ways of dealing with his relationship with the forum. I also appreciate any inside information that gets shared by the latter, as well as @Goldenorn, which isn’t found elsewhere.

But I haven’t yet read an apology to @Steel City Gold or others who were falsely accused of multiple accounts etc. I am aware that this sounds sanctimonious, but I tentatively suggest that making an apology might be as helpful to yourself as for the recipient(s). More achievable than the cold turkey of absolute forum abstinence. I would like to offer my own apologies now to anyone whom I might have had a spat with in the past (most likely when I was posting under the name of Victory Road).

My hope is that everyone who needs to step back for a while will be able to do so. I have written before about the fact that I have stepped back from attending games, for the simple reason that, as a ST holder I resented the time and money spent. I’m going to the Vic for the first time this season on Wednesday night and I am currently resenting the friend who persuaded me to do it. But I will deal with my resentment before I see him and the others, so that when we walk out of the ground feeling the familiar and inevitable emptiness that we will, I won’t simply say “I told we shouldn’t have come!”

The bottom line is that I love my fellow hornet citizens, and I will be united with them on Wednesday night, in misery or joy. On the internet, or in person. I will not let the cr@p detract from the bigger picture. Things are going to get better, even if it’s going to get even worse for a while. And when there’s no reason to hope for a better future this season, there’s always next season. And if that looks bleak even now, then it’s ok to turn your attention to something more solid than football. It doesn’t mean that you have to stop being a Watford supporter.

PS. Thanks to all the forum admins for the work you do.

And I’m sorry for naming some people and not others here. I love you all. We’re all whoppers. You’orns.

Obviously I was part of the derailment of that thread, which I want to apologise for. Looking at my comments I was clearly riled by the alt accusations but I wouldn't want anyone to leave because of me. Especially if that person has been far more active on here than me.

Part of the reason I've lurked more than posting is due to the infighting, I think our collective general frustration at the club is probably fueling this and Saturday maybe was a spark point after an abject performance.

Fully endorse this last point. I am disappointed every time I read someone saying they are ‘retiring’ from the forum as it removes another viewpoint & perspective. I am always pleased to see people continue to post, even those I clearly disagree with on almost every occasion. Without those opposing viewpoints, your own thought process can becomes lazy.
    Keep posting people!

Yes I never understood why that was removed. If two posters are going at it hammer and tongs, they might think again if their 3 or 4 likes are dwarfed by 36 dislikes ??
