As a sort of send off thing before uni my family are going to Gibraltar for 4 days with the intention of exploring Andalucia a bit. For those who knows their southern Spain geography well (or indeed Granada fans), Granada is located in this culturally-infused, wonderful area. I am indeed going to Granada to visit the Alhambra and take a slight detour to the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes for maybe a couple of photos. I just wanna know from anyone who's been to the region or Granada fans about transport in the region and Granada as well sights to see. Thanks
Granada is a beautiful city, I've been there quite a lot due to work. Make sure you go to my friends Irish bar in the centre.
Seeing as my parents don't drink (and my mum is not a big fan of my recent alcohol escapades) I might give that a miss. On the other hand if your friend's Irish bar serves up some good grub then me and my dad are sold. Definitely need to buy a Watford flag to parade outside the stadium and you know act as a representative of Watford (no not in the same way as the Top Gear men did in India)
Yeah what's the best way to travel throughout Andalucia (well from Gibraltar to Grenada and in that area)?
Apparently cars are a hassle to get through the Gibraltar/Spain border (hotel is in Gibraltar), plus I can't drive, dad gets tired very quickly and mum cba to drive. Fun family we are...
if hotels is in Gibraltar... Its gonna be hard go and come in the same day... I think there's no planes from Gibraltar to Granada airport (maybe from Cadiz) and then you can use a train. But i repeat, its gonna be a hard travel if u do it twice in a day trying to visit everything in 10 hours
My recollection is that entry to the Alhambra is by timed ticket and it is best to book in advance or you could be queueing for hours. The easiest way to do it would be to book a tour from Gibraltar, which your hotel could probably do for you. I know it's not anyone's favourite way to visit but there are some places where it's far easier especially if you have limited time and are travelling with family who have limited energy. If you wanted to see more of Granada you would have to make another trip.
