I agree he should score goals, but it is plainly stupid to judge a player solely by that metric. I also agree that 15m is a pretty crazy valuation, but that doesn't mean I dont think he has been good for us. Game state matters. Davis normally starts and Bayo often comes on as a sub. They also have different roles - Bayo is often brought on with the sole aim of scoring a goal and so he is allowed to just poach whereas Davis has a role which requires him to drop deep / receive the ball with his back to goal etc. Comparing their goals per minute is a pretty brainless way of comparing the two. Anyone with eyes and brain can see that Davis is considerably better.
When will we have real definitive information about our new wonder striker and and the terms of the deal including the likely buy-out ...Bayat ...Bayo clauses to be included. Life is soooo complicated these days!
Can confirm, this is a done deal. Expect an announcement shortly. Club still looking for 1-2 more this window.
Seems like a tricky one given the other clubs interested. Hopefully the club have received indications that the player/United are interested in him coming here.
These types of signings remind me of the excitement around signings when pozzo’s first took over. No more of that Belgian or French second division dross we’ve had for years now
Excited to see what he can do after hearing Benfica fans rave about him. Sounds like promotion should be a formality.
To be fair to the Jupiler League Burnley have shown there is a lot of talent there. I think Mahrez signed for Leicester from Ligue 2 too. The issue is not the division, it’s signing players at the behest of someone whose primary concern is lining their own pockets, not getting the profile of player required
My belief is united would prefer him to stay in English football as he hasn’t had much experience. Looking for a team he can get plenty of game time in a physically challenging league.
On this one, only what I’ve seen reported! I know the club defo looking to add 1 or 2 before the end of the window for sure. But they will only bring in a player that is the right fit and adds to the quality of the squad. No more wasting time and money on squad players
I don't see how it's comparable - the signings when Pozzos first took over were ones who we often already effectively owned / could have easily made permanent.
I just mean in the level of excitement and supposed quality of the player. Clearly very different circumstances but it’s nice to feel excited over signings again.
There is a good player in there but the amount of times he shoots instead of passing or vice versa is frustrating. When he comes deep, wins the ball and gets a good pass off for us to counter with the speed we have he is at his best. 4 goals in 18 games isnt good enough for a club of our stature in the league we are in though.
Agreed, ironically this is probably his most prolific season as his career stats are 15 in 125 games .
I’m disappointed we haven’t had a Benfica fan register to the forum declaring their undying support for us because of this impending signing.
