Just announced on SSN. I'm glad, he played well against ipswich in both boxes, doing his bit at the back as well.
iam glad that he signed a new contract but i think thats far too much of an extension another 4 years i beleive is a bit excessive but at least that means he wont be leaving on a free any time soon
hope he likes sitting on the bench because if we do go up he shouldnt start a single game he was truly awful last year. could only really be considered good back up to back up in premiership.
Gald hes signed...Don't agree with the Truly awful last year, bearing in mind he was the only striker getting balls lobbed upto him...hes not superman...Doris will come good again and will learn from the mistakes of last year...and at least we've now got 3 experienced 15 goal a season men...alright Kabba the Hut, Tamas and Bob Hoskins will all challenge for places but as yet i don't have the confidence in them to do a job yet. Well done Hendo, guess u'll have to take the house off the market..lol
If he doesn't go in January, he'll go next summer. The deal has been made to make sure we get a reasonable price for him, IMHO!!!
He can afford a bigger one now (as I'd assume he's had a wage hike), so no need to take if off the market.

Best bit of news all summer 2011 sounds reasonable. He's just 26 years old and I think he can still develop. Hendo didn't have the best of seasons in the Premiership, but he's wasn't awful like some people seem to think. He was given an almost impossible job at times but never complained and always gave it 110%. With King, Hendo and Ellington we have the best strike-force in the Championship.
To be honest, the blame for Hendo's poor form lies just as much with Aidy as Hendo IMO since Aidy did not bring in sufficient cover. Tamas needed time to settle and Hoskins and Kabba were too little too late.
Totally agree... He was awfull last year... 3 goals in a season for a striker is phucking pathetic! We were only offered 1.3 million because of that performance!! If he can bang in 15 to 20 goals this year, on our way to promotion to the prem, we can flog him next summer for over 2 million, maybe even 2.5 million as a parting gift on to next years promotion hopefuls who are desperate for 20 goals in this league! Bearing in mind we only paid half a million for him, that will be good business!!
Great news - potentially the best signing of the year (the only proven strike partner for Marlon)! You couldn`t expect him to be a one man strike force last season, and the fact that some good sides chased him shows he has class. Hendo is going to score a lot of goals particularly with 4 3 3.
He'll do alright this season but if we get promoted then I don't see any point in keeping him at the club
Personally I can only think of one reason for offering him a 4 year deal and thats when we get promoted in May we can sell him with 3 years left to run so another club can't nick him for next to nothing. Coz he sure as hell won't be a scrap of use again in the Premiership next season and the prospect of another 4 years of hoof ball is just too dire to even contemplate, reckon even Mahon will have had enough by then. I know Doris scored on Saturday, but honestly guys he should have had at least 3 goals, his strike ratio for chances is awful and he has a role this season as an alternative to football, but not going forward next season.
What a load of grumpy ******s some of you are. If he hits the sort of form he did the season before last I'd have in my squad for the Premiership anyday. He isn't fast or particularly technically gifted, yet Aidy left him last season to be friggin Henry when he clearly isn't. Its not his fault. If he had been given a decent strike partner then he would have done fine. We now have Duke, King and Hendo, and wouldn't give any one of them up even if we do get promoted, because frankly Hendo isn't afraid to get stuck in and knock John terry for six, which is something we sorely need.
Agree with that, if we get promoted he will have a role to play in the Premiership, and if he has a good strike partner he will do better than last time around imo
Really can't see that at all. His problem last season wasn't lack of a strike partner, that was the teams problem. His problem was total lack of sufficient finishing ability to put clear cut chances away, the number of very simple chances he missed was quite staggering and that didn't come from lack of a strike partner. When we get promoted we cannot afford to go with him up front.
You gotta ask yourself the question though - what have you got to do at the club in order to not get a pay rise?.... Its every snout in the trough since Ash left.
Indeed. Anyone who pokes their head over the parapet and says they may want to talk to another team gets a new deal. Needs to stop.
I for one am glad he is staying, especially as it was not his idea to go in the first place. I could not give a monkey's cuss if Hoskins, Kabba and Priskin were to go tomorrow. Wonder if Carly will come back now?
the thing is weve got him for 4 years but will he be content as being a squad player and not necessarily a first team choice espically if we go up, because if we go up while i admit hes a very good striker to have to try and change the game i cant see him being first choice in this league let alone if we go up as for priskin i still have faith he will come good in time
I agree, his finishing really was woeful I think we are also forgetting that his finishing on Saturday was also dire.... both his header AND shot into the side netting should have hit the target. That said, I am glad he's still here... sounds strange but i trust him over Marlon at the moment and i cant even explain why.. as long as he's scoring goals everyones happy!
Sums it up quite nicely as far as I'm concerned. I'm very happy about this piece of news. Believe that a fit King, Hendo & Ellington would do well in the Prem as well.
I think Priskin will be gone by January. He won't get a place ahead of King, Ellington and Hendo, and unlike Kabba and Hoskins he has some kind of international pedigree to play with. I doubt he will be satisfied with just being a sub. He only came as we were a Premiership club, and now we aren't, and he still isn't playing. And if he does, I won't be sorry to see him go personally. I have rarely seen anything that shows any real talent, and he is lazy, ignorant and simply isn't interested.
If Priskin has not learnt the basics of the off-side law, in his time here, I do not think he will ever turn out to be the finished article.
If Priskin has not learnt the basics of the off-side law, in his time here, I do not think he will ever turn out to be the finished article. Can't really say any more than watch the whole match of Hungary Italy, he was pure class throughout against world class defenders, but there again they weren't playing bloody hoof ball.
That's all well and good, but the fact is he hasn't ever performed that well for us, just as Lampard never performs for England yet does for Chelsea. He still appears to think the offside rule doesn't apply to him, he still doesn't bother to chase the ball, gain possession or hound the defence. He just stands about looking rather pathetic and lightweight. Do you think he will get a regular first team spot before Christmas?
I am glad Henderson has got a new contract the guy deserves it. It must have been a real kick in the teeth when he found out that he was being replaced by HH and DJ Campbell. Boothy did not want him and that was plainly clear. However when the two deals did not come off Aidy wanted him back. In any normal line of business Henderson would have been seriously PI**ed off and I don't blame him for wanting to leave. However if all is now forgoten then it is only wright for him to be rewarded with a big pay increase and a long term contract at the club to put everything straight. Good business by both parties as they both need each other. Watford are much stronger with Hendo on board. There were plenty of takers for Hendo and that says a lot. Aidy has just worked that one out. I also don't go with the theory that he can't cut it in the Premiership. Ok he had a lousy season but then there were not many Hornets that came through the season with a+'s. Hendo will be better for the experiance. Don't forget the blokes got bottle especially that pen at West Ham. Welcome back Hendo and long may the goals continue. :]]:]]
Unfortunately I think he'll struggle to gain a first team spot in the current set up which may well se his early departure which will be a great shame as I think that Priskin along with Ellington are our two strikers best suited to the Premiership. He is a natural goal scorer and I really don't care if he does very little for 88 minutes so long as when the chances come he puts them away. He is the exact opposite to Henderson who works like a trojan but has absolutely no natural goal scoring ability. I still feel, however that a Henderson Priskin combination might prove very workable this season.
Can't fault Hendo for his attitude - how many others would have stuck on in there through all the c**p he's gone through? Respect earned and due. I like our forward line - a bunch of unpredictable trouble-making individuals that would worry any back four in this division and most of the Premiership if we do get promoted. I'd love to see us 3.0 up at half time and Aidy playing King, Hendo and Duke up front at the same time in the second half just for fun.
