Well, it looks as through this takeover from the Pozzo's is off. Can you Udinese fans shed any light on this at all?
Hi everyone, and greetings from Udine! I hope that with this deal, by the Pozzo's family, the Watford will back in Premier League already next year! It' an interesting project by the owners of our club, here in udine, and i am trustful that this will bring some outstanding results for all of us. From now on, i will symphatize also for Watford FC, and i hope also that as soon as possible, it will be a friendly game between the 3clubs(Udinese, Watford and Granada).
no statement from Pozzo! I search the web and there's nothing about it. apparently by now there's only this article of the watford observer to report the matter. ps: how reliable is the observer?
Well let's hope it is the idiot spouting nonsense once again. Udinese I did not know that about the club winning the first 'unofficial' title. Rikkomas Saracens is owned by a very wealthy South African who has brought a lot of Boks into the side. Rugby here is not in that healthy a state. Some clubs are thriving like Saracens with generous backing but even so their new stadium is not going to match Leicester Tigers for capacity. Others are really struggling and these are famous well established teams like London Wasps. I'm pleased to see Treviso continue in the Pro12. Pity that Aironi folded but hopefully Parma Zebras do better. Disappointing result for the Azzurri in their Test against an Argentinian third XV followed by a win over Canada. Your juniors also tooka bit of a beating in the Junior Rugby World Championship but the new flyhalf looks better than any tried since Dominguez retired. Give it a few more years (it took France nearly three decades to become fully competitive) and Italy will be right up there. One thing you need to do is to get rugby into schools not just private clubs. No matter what happens we'll keep an eye on Udinese's progress.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18558984 Watford's proposed Italian takeover still 'on track' Watford's proposed takeover by the Pozzo family is still on, despite claims to the contrary from current Hornets owner Laurence Bassini.
The Italian National Rugby side are here in Houston to face USA in the new soccer stadium tomorrow night. Probably nobody is interested in this, but hey, why not post it anyway.
thanks for the info Smudger Italy rugby is ****ed if we continue to have 60k players; if you don't enlarge at grassroots level is impossible to have some momentum Having said that Italy for me is overacheaving (thanks to all the poaches) On an opposite level Benetton is doing really well and is becoming more and more difficult to beat us even at Heineken cup level (last year we won against Biarritz, drew with Ospreys and only Saracens beated us at home) Zebre will be crap! the have only the player that didn't get any offer for abroad; Treviso got Geldenhuis, Favaro and Toniolatti and others are gone as well Gone also are Williams and Sinoti They are struggling big time to have 40 players under contract Time now to stop this diversion on rugby How much of a **** is Baz to say something like that? I'm feeling confy here with you guys and I don't want to change team now that I made my choice
Sorry, but my rugby allegiance is with this lot.. http://www.mooloo.co.nz/ Went on hols there with my Watford scarf..see you've come prepared I was told...
I'm an American sports fan now. We drew the other night with the luckless Toronto. Therefore, my allegiance is removed until we win again. Once the play-offs roll around, I'll be 100% orange for a few weeks.
I think it is a pleasant diversion Rikkomas. Have no fear Italian rugby will prosper. I still remember how disgracefully long it took for the team to be allowed to enter the 6N when you had players like the Cuttita brothers, Paolo Vaccari, Chechinatto the much lamented Francescato (RIP) and of course Dominguez who were all world class. I must say I don't like the nickname Zebras either. Doesn't sound aggressive enough though it is a nod to Parma's heritage. Parma have done pretty well out of it after letting Viadana down though by not helping Aironi financially and the bank pulling out (bit like Berlusconi with his Milanese rugby club). Fabio Ongaro now retired has left us so to speak (Saracens) and moved to Parma to act as general manager with Troncon as one of the coaches. About Bassini. I think he engages his mouth before his brain and as the recent hours have shown he has made a laughing stock of himself. Likewise we are all glad the deal is still on as it has been a real pleasure having you Udinese and Granada fans on the forums and long may it continue. Have you heard of Jose Bragato ? He was born in Udine but moved to Buenos Aires as a young child where he became a cellist, composer (also researching the local folk music a la Bartok) and linking up with the better known Astor Piazzolla and creating the new tango. I love this music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=[yt]mXmi8o_tEco[/yt]
wow I like this rugby diversion. it's a pleasure reading you Smudger and Rikkomas I remember my first 6nations match at flaminio in 2000, italy 12 england 59 it ended up in a big big party, the only fact that we managed to score 2 tries was considered a success. in 12 years our national team has improved a lot.
the transalpines - just pure f... joy to beat them! everytime I go to London I always do my pilgrimage to Trafalgar square to pay homage to my hero Lord Nelson!
The Azzurri have already beaten France at rugby before last seasons 22-21 win. And of course in 2006 at the WC final. A 30-10 win over the USA in Houston yesterday. A slightly flattering scoreline as the US Eagles made a host of handling errors and also and rightly lost two players to red cards for shoulder charges. As a link between Horatio Nelson and the French what of Andrea Doria Udinese ?
for the sake of the generative discourse. may god have mercy on out souls. if you beat us Italy I hope you beat the germans.
maybe, we might have deserved to win, but beeing so inconsistent in attack, I think that it was right to go to the penalties it makes no sense to have in the field brainless bralottelli and cassano half service and leave totò, diamanti or giovinco on the bench. take diamanti or nocerino, they did more in 20 minutes that balottelli in 120. objectively italy, consideringe the whole performance and the occasions created deserved to win the match, but they do not deserve to be in semifinal.
On the night the best team won!!! So against the Germans it will be.............................. VIVA ITALIA as far as I'm concerned :italian::italian::italian:
at this point I will probably do the same but only because I detest the krauts more then I detest most of those representing italy.
How come Giovinco hasn't got any action for Italy, he has been sublime for Parma, I caught his goal vs Siena last season towards the end, very very good.
Man, you do know your stuff! And sadly I never heard of Mr Bragato (but my knowledge is **** in that field) For Zebre they did "stole" a name of an italian barbarian team in the '80 that played some internationals matches because they have an historical mean and they're linked to Milan area It has nothing to do with fear but they got the name for the black and white stripes For the management: Ongaro is at his first try as a TM and Troncon (idol wen he was playing) has been demoted from the italian team to the Zebre becuase a lot of people were thinking he did not have the right experience to be an attacking coach at international level Actually the Italian federation gifted to Zebre all the management team as they have no money I don't know what happened with Aironi but they had signed some warranties (i don't know the right world) for the money they needed for 2 seasons of Pro12 but suddenly they didn't have any left Rumors says that Dondi (pres of it federation) killed them in order to move the team to his native Parma It was much easier to save Aironi with some federation $ than create a new team Zebre rooster is really weak and they're currently chasing players cut by Treviso and some players from the italian top league (but not the best ones) I hope they will reach at least 35 players
Udinese will play a friendly in England on August 11th against Southampton. Maybe the start of an English tour?
