Well that came out of the blue! Going to be an interesting week ahead, fingers crossed it’s mainly good stuff!

I’ve decided to try and not get too bogged down on all the certain Agent, financial, conspiracy theories this season and just worry about what’s happening on the pitch (yes I’m fully aware that stuff effects the pitch stuff). But it’s begun to massively reduce my enjoyment of football.

So, looking forward to seeing the final squad when the window quietly (lol) closes and then what Rob can do.

2nd in the league and unbeaten so far is obviously good, some of the football could do with being a little more exciting, hopefully that will come.

 

And what a quality kidnapped nut case he was!

Holebas was a good player for us, and entertaining - and our failure to adequately replace before his legs went was one of the things that contributed to our relegation.

I think it's impossible to accurately speculate why this deal has been done but in 6 to 24 months it will probably be more obvious. There are several possible reasons why the deal could've been done, some good, some bad and one rather apocalyptic.

In the meantime it looks like the Pozzos have set out their stall for this season and made their decisions, unless they're lying about Sarr.

I think for the fanbase its really a case of strapping in, wondering where the hell we're gonna end up at the end of the season on and off the pitch, enjoying the thrills and spills of the championship and hoping when the window shuts we have a team capable of promotion.

 

Done with this club until these clowns have gone back to the circus. He's not getting a penny more from me. Don't think I have to wait for long.

This is quite possibly the dodgiest deal we've made in recent years. And it also came completely out of blue. Shocking.

Intuition tells me this was a plan b move if the Sarr deal fell through. An easy way to bring in some money to help to cover off the money that deal would have made the club.

But, even though we’ve already raised around £40m+ we still had to bring in more. For me, that is a worry. I certainly think Pedro will also go, and it wasn’t part of the plan to sell him in this window. If we get £30m for him, that will cover off Sarr staying. So this extra £16m could mean both Pedro and Sarr stay; Pedro goes and we spend some cash to replace him or we’re really in the crapper as far as financials are concerned. The next 9 days will reveal all.

 

If anyone asks the high price is reflected by the very high inflation we are experiencing.

 

If this deal means we don't have to sell Pedro and Sarr then it is a good deal probably. If however we end up selling Pedro, that means we're in a much worse financial state than we were led to believe.

 

Maybe it’s my misunderstanding but it’s not really “being handed 16m for absolutely nothing”.

Kamara is now officially a Udinese player, he’s not ours. Say we don’t get promoted, or Pozzo does sell up, who’s to say we’ll ever see Kamara become a Watford player officially again?

To me at least, it does appear to be asset stripping.

Would be happy to be proved wrong by someone here with more knowledge on the matter.

I have absolutely no knowledge on the matter (sorry to disappoint you!), but surely if this were a case of asset stripping, we'd have bundled him off to Udinese for a cut-price deal, not vastly more than we paid for him just 7 months ago?

Fully agree that this is dodgy as ****, and next season we might be back to square one having to sign a left-back having let the former best left back in France go

I think they'd banked on having received £45+ million by now from Dennis/Sarr/Cucho/Samir & the other dribs & drabs & as that level has not been hit in time then we need some hard cash now. Even if SD's June comments were not, at the time, outright lies, they seem to have been the very definition of dissimulation.

 

Did Granada end up with a ton of loanees before they were dumped out the trinity?

 

On my hols and just got back from the beach. I'm not siding with the doom merchants on this one. Finally we get a good deal from our Udinese relationship! I genuinely thought that Kamara would have moved on permanently this summer to Udinese, so getting him back for the season is a bonus.

Yes, the Wobby article definitely says they need him to replace the bloke they've sold to Spurs & then loaned back for this season. It also says RE has made it clear which LB/LWBs he wants to sign after this season.
