for a growing amount of lads, that film is pretty close to what goes down on match day. with that and other films, the scene has changed no end since 2004.

I think some organised fighting goes on still, but at matches not like the storyline on the film where they end up meeting over something not related at all to football when he dies at the end

I actually liked Green Street, though I’m totally against football violence (and in society in general tbh). As for how close to reality it is, I guess if you look for that type of experience you’ll find it, and I’m sure similar events occur during big derbies. However I prefer not to look for trouble, so a) it doesn’t reflect my match day experience and b) I haven’t seen anything on that scale.

green street was aimed to much at the amercans

footy factory was more of a english film if that makes sense

green street is ok because it has abit of a storyline to it but i dont think west ham or millwall firms would just let a amercans come into there pub and join there firm i dont think that would happen i liked both of them but football factory is the better out of the 2 i think

nothing like reality im afraid! It was aimed at the american market so sensationalised a lot! All the hooligan films leave a lot to be desired, although I will always have a place in my heart for ID :]]

Well, by aiming it at the American market, they sure as shyte missed. They had to bring someone into the plot of the movie that required making explanations to, so who better than a footy-ignorant American? Is there anyone in the world more likely to have zero understanding of the beautiful game than an American? It let's the film maker state all the obvious crap and get it all out of the way up front.

Here however, there isn't a single person that DOESN'T wake up at 5am to catch their favorite Barclay's English Premier League game every Saturday or Sunday morning that knows about this film, despite cousin Frodo's appearance. Only a few footy nuts do, and not all have seen GSH, though most have. That said, Football Factory is heard of but rarely seen here by those that care, so from that perspective you are right. I don't think you could rent it at the video store, for example. You'd have to steal it over the internet to watch it. Somebody did recently point out to me that LA Galaxy and US Nat'l team star Landon Donovan looks like Zeberdee though, which at least implies that he's seen both at some point.

In sum, the allure that American's hold for white people hitting each other with sticks that have nails in them was likely overestimated. Now, put one of these in their hands and you've got yourself a Grade A bonafide American hit!:

Danny Dyer is the most depressingly one-dimensional actor that exists. I hate him with a passion, he was ok in human traffic but has just played the same character over and over again ever since, and not even done a very good job of that!

i completely agree. he is like a rubbish steve buscemi, playing largely the same type of character in the same type of movie but with none of the amazingness of the buscemi!

Not mad, just a bit clued up. These films are the closest a lot of people have seen to what does/did go on.

Green Street- poor film, poor actors, poor storyline with some of the worst cockney accents since D*ck Van ****.

Football Factory- very over-rated in my opinion but 'not a bad film'. That is all it is, i have heard many people rave about it, mostly people who also don't have half a clue about anything

GscottW- Danny Dyer is a very avergae actor in many films and alot of his characters are very 'samey'

Human Traffic though, 'Moff' along with some others on that film- top f*cking drawer!!!
