Think its a bit to early to assume we will hit the prem straight away,and I cant even begin to think who addie would have in mind to sign for next season.Yet again it would depend on fee"s and wages.
Manuel Almunia has been playing in Arsenal's first team this season, he wouldn't come to us. Although i do agree that neither out keepers are prem quality, but lets get there first
Hmmm, I'm gonna say either Foster (like that would happen), Niemi if Fulham go down or Kirkland when Wigan go down, although he would likely move to a better club.
niemi is a great shout, but i don't think we could match his wages at fulham unfortunately. i also think Richard Lee is being done a disservice, i think at times last season-particularly against man citeh at eastlands-he was excellent. he suffers in comparison to fozzy, but then so do most goal keepers. i'd be happy with rich and another, although i think he's at a stage where he has to start getting regular first team football or he'll turn in to steve harper. that said i think we should also judge mart in a months time, his performance against ipswich was much improved and i think once the cobwebs are out he'll be a very astute signing
If you mean Thomas Sørensen Berko, I'm all with you. It seems Martin O'Neill does not want him anymore. He's a great goalie - very consistent and has many years in him still. I'd love to see Lee play in the Prem but I know that won't happen.
I would be more than happy to see Lee be our first team keeper whatever league wee are in. He performed brilliantly against the Prem opposition last season, so think what he may do if he gets a season under his belt first this season? I know I am biased, but from a neutral perspective what we are doing is ridiculous. Poom, no matter what some of you seem to think, is old, slow, shaky and not actually very good, and we have Lee kicking his heels every week on the bench not getting a look in. Course, we have to actually GET to the Prem first :]]
Absolutely right Kris - my poor spelling. Very good keeper, fallen out with O'Neill get him in on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season. Poom is not good enough for where we are going.
Sorensen is pretty error prone though - makes a few howlers every season. That's the reason he's been dropped by Villa. The rest of the time he's a pretty good goalie though. Could we afford to throw away goals though? I don't think so.
True he has one or two big mistakes per season. Thing is - those are the mistakes he makes. I'd rather have that or someone who makes mistakes regular but of a slightly lesser character. Fossie made many mistakes in his time at the Vic. As many as Sørensen if not more during last season.
Thomas Sørensen is quoted in Danish newspapers today saying he would not mind taking a pay-cut in order to go to a club where he'll play regularly. I am certain lots of Prem clubs would love him in their team so I can't really see him coming to the Vic. But if we go up and we can keep what we have and add a little spice here and there - who knows.
