Someone must have done something naughty to bring the board down...tsk tsk. I used to post under a similar name on the old late lamented official board. I'm out here in Los Angeles and am the only Watford fan I know. Anyway, been a bit lost since the board got scrubbed...finally had some time to do a bit of a search and found this one. Glad to be back.
1 Request, it's Football, Association Football or at the very least Footy. That word beginning with S is never to be uttered. Other than that, enjoy;D
Ha ha! I'm fluent in football. So long as we don't end up talking about the American sports, football it is. It gets too confusing talking about American sports without using the handy acronym you gave us for Association Football. Oddly enough, American sporting has been a popular topic in the last day or two. I'll tell Posh you said hello as I leave her place late tonight.
One more thing... This board is so so so much better than the previous one. It's a rather nice place to be around...
The word soccer was banned for a while, but it used to mess up links to soccer am and other bits and pieces. I got too many PM's about it so unbanned it and banned v1all1 instead
Welcome american friend. whats your background - originally from watford or are you naturally drawn to the underdog?
I was PFCFitzoftheYellowArmy, quite similar... I do like the underdogs. Typical American in many ways, Irish grandparents who immigrated in the 20's, my pop was an Air Force officer so I lived all over the US, notably Hawaii for 6 years. I spent a little time in Japan in the 90's as an adult, but none in Europe...ever. I admit it is a majpr personality flaw. With some luck, I can change that soon! I moved to LA several years ago and started following the Galaxy, which led to watching other leagues in the offseason. I felt no attraction to any particular EPL club, though I'd followed Fulham a bit thanks to the Yanks there. I detest Manyoo & Chelsea, and never really had my own club to follow until one day when Jay DeMerit emerged onto the scene with a spectacular header against Leeds and I became an instant Watford supporter. I have a # 6 Watford kit with Demerit's name on it which is a conversation starter.
he is irish.. and he likes to be different so didnt want to support manure... and watford was easy to pronounce!!! ;D ;D ;D
Mate that is quality!o deary me dont suppose you quite understood what you were getting yourself into.
see below. started supporting em at start of last season, went to 2 games during season(parents didn't like me going over to often cause of flight costs etc) but i managed to get to cardiff by myself !!!!!!!!!!!!! true apart from my wanting to specifically wantin to be different(watty were always my 2nd english team because of relative leaving nearby and a false depiction of my vast superior vocabulary!!!!!!!!;D cheers mate. and despite what wfchornet2 says i CAN pronounce wotfard
I'm supposed to like Manyoo, too. Everyone tells me so. It's vomitous. Also, I'm not supposed to like footy here, but I'm a rebel like that. Yeeha. I've got family in Dublin, near Finglas road, and a good friend in parts elsewhere in Dublin who always invites me out for a pint. So far I've not been able to take him up on the invite.
Would someone direct me to the thread on what people wear matchday to Vicarage Road? I'm trying to figure out what the controversy is...
New first post on this forum. :]] Used to be on the old official board but have lost touch with all those who posted on there. Mostly liked to read the comments but did post sometimes. Hope to do the same here.
