On his day he'll be mercurial and at his worst he'll be anonymous. Gracias job is to make sure it's somewhere in the middle of those two as often as not with more of the former & less of the latter between times. The rest of the time he'll be out with niggles and strains. (Injuries, not the owners of the local homeopathy clinic.) That's what you get for around £10m these days.
We have to expect inconsistent displays from him. But really at his age and experience he should blossom next season. Be interesting to see what position JG believes he's best. I have no doubt that he could play off a target man if we go 2. up. Hopefully we go all out for Willian Jose now.
If Deulofeu turns out to be a successful signing. No reason he won’t be as he looked class on debut and fairly decent in the next match before injury curtailed his run in the side. But don’t jump the gun.
I post things on here always in good faith. Sometimes it turns out to be wrong.....and when it is wrong, I'm a liar of course. I never attack other posters, but there are far too many that all they want to do is point score and hold vendettas for years. This is becoming far too common. Yes, I got it wrong about Karnezis, but if you scroll back, like it sounds it's something you do often to gather your point scoring information, you'll see I've got far more things right.....but let's gloss over that eh? To be honest, I've had enough of all these attacks, so it's been a good run, but it's time to retire. I wish everyone the best on here and my support for Watford will never be in doubt. Yes I agree and I hope Hb1 has a change of heart. He always writes eloquently and with passion. Yes he can blow with the wind but can’t we all at times! Yes he throws little insults around at times too but it’s only harmless words on a forum where we are all anonymous anyway. On a personal level when my dear Mum passed away he was the first person here to private message me his condolences and that meant a lot to me. Hope he has a change of heart. Maybe he’s secretly worried Gracia will fail next season and he doesn’t want to be around to admit he was wrong!

Conversely I am of the view that he is an attention seeker who deliberately antagonises other posters and then claims to be the victim. It will be fantastic news if he is really gone but I imagine this is just another attempt to be the star of the show.
I am not a regular poster on this forum but visit every day to catch up on news and views. Sorry to say it but the forum has descended into repetitive unfunny jokes and keyboard warriors. Sad really. Hb1 is one of the few members who offer a balanced view and gets slated for it. Most of the culprits are the ones who make no valuable contribution to a conversation and also churn out reparative jokes. Unless you have some valuable input into a thread, read it and move on.

I'm surprised anyone, in this day and age of social media, would use an unofficial football forum for up to date news about their team.
I hope you reconsider. It will be a shame to lose both you and Reids as it will deteriorate the forum even further and make it a lot less interestingly. To be honest I also think it was a shame to lose ITK Jim as at least posted interesting football related views. I suspect there will be further exodus at this rate.

Every time I have debated him, I’ve enjoyed it and I’ve always thought his views are as valid as my own, even if I don’t agree with them all the time. I’ve always enjoyed your contributions HB1 and hope you stick around.

Because twitter is even worse. This forum used to be a good place to get consolidated rumors, make a few name-based puns, and have some reasonable discussion.
In HB1's defense, there are people who make mocking posts yet have never actually had a real discussion with HB1 -- they just chime in and make an easy gag. I could see how this gets tiring.
Some of you do have balanced discussions. Many don’t. And many bring up old discussions to point score. Everyone has that one annoying mate that always digs up history with the point of embarrassing someone in the hope of looking funny. Fact is they are normally the most bland person themselves and offer very little to their friendship groups. We’re all fans of the same club, people tend to forget that.
People can have too much football information. I remember having an overdose of info about our beloved, first Pozzo manager. I really felt like I was forces to gorge on Zola.
I have to agree HB1 should stay and will be missed. Sometimes he supplies several less eloquent trolls the ammunition to fire back. But on balance he is one the best posters. This is a sight for opinion, rumours and debate. It is unfair to expect most of us to be able to guarantee 'facts' or verify sources in all cases. HB1 is frequently called a liar or attention seeker which is not right. Don't be bullied...exercise your article 12 right to freedom of expression.
HBl had lots of interesting things to say, and was at times, as I frequently told him before putting him on my ignore list for the sake of the forum's sanity, a valuable opinion on the forum. Unfortunately, he didn't like being disagreed with, and he changed his arguments weekly no matter how adamantly he'd argued against it the week before, ignored any post more than one place back so you constantly had to respond to the same point, and took offense very quickly. And for someone who never attacked other people's posts, he jumped down my throat enough times with abuse and derogation in response to fair argument. I would have preferred to be able to discuss things with him like a grown up because, as I say, he had some interesting things to say, but I am also happy to say that my ignore list is now empty. I will not miss him playing one against the rest ping pong on this forum. I also find it difficult to believe he will not post on here again (under one name or another), or not be looking right now to find out what people are saying about him. Not goodbye, simply adieu I suspect.
Although I’ve tended to be more gloomy than optimistic lately, I do agree there is much already to look forward to about next season. The signing of Deulofeu is another. We are a mid to lower PL club and I think we’ve pulled off some real signings of quality this past year that maybe doesn’t befit our status. Of course at our level every player we sign will have their occasional flaws, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to sign them and would be looking instead at the likes of Messi or Ronaldo. Yes Deulofeu can be inconsistent and drift out of matches. Yes it’s true we’ve only actually scored goals so far in one match that he’s taken part in for us. But there’s no doubt he has ability and on his day that extra bit of gold dust that you often need to win matches in our division. We should start next season with Deulofeu, Pereyra, Hughes, Chalobah, Cleverley and maybe Doucouré. We are signing Spanish internationals from Barca, Italian internationals from Serie A, I’ve no doubt Chalobah will win his first international cap next season etc. These are players of real pedigree. If we can only strengthen the defence and bring in a goal scorer or two next season, and if Gino’s faith comes off in Gracia to be the young exciting Coach to unleash all this talent and get them fit and playing well together, then I believe there will be much to enjoy over the coming months. I still have my doubts if I’m honest, but I do like the way we are moving...
Why should anyone be embarrassed by anyone bringing up an old thread? Surely you either say oops sorry, I get your point, or explain why you changed your mind? Or maybe learn to be a little more careful before criticizing the opinions of others. That would be a good lesson to learn that a little bit of embarrassment is a small price to pay. If you say something. Stand by it, or just accept you can occasionally be wrong.
It's reported in the picture six posts above yours - the article in Spanish has a box that explains that Gracia being our coach was a key part of Deulofeu's decision. When it looked like he might not return, you were quick enough to post a snide comment about Gracia not being enough of a draw to convince Deulofeu to come back, so now maybe you can be gracious enough to accept that it appears he's a key reason we've got one of our top targets this summer.
