Good first draft but where's the bit pointing out the effect of all of this on house prices and I can't seem to see where you've worked in either Madeline McCann and/or Princess Di?
Really impressed by the World Cup so far, most games have been good to excellent, I hope it continues in to the knockout stages.
I wouldn’t fancy Columbia, but then I’m sure the feeling would be mutual after our result today. With Japan to play Poland last, there is a good chance Columbia will finish 2nd assuming they beat Senegal, which isn’t a given by any stretch. It also assumes Poland remain as **** as they have been. So it will likely be a case of winning the group being better for us as I’d much rather play Japan who look very ordinary.
This doesn’t make sense. If you think Columbia will finish second in their group, then we would play them if we won ours. So better for us to finish second, surely?
We can win in the same way that any 7th/8th favourite can win when they get through to the last 16 of a knock out competition. Unlikely but not impossible.
Group H finishes earlier on Thursday so we will know who we will get for finishing first or second in our group prior to us kicking off. Personally I just want us to continue with our momentum by beating Belgium (our first really big test) without getting too clever about it all.
I agree, besides aren't there rules about purposely throwing a game. It's definitely not in the spirit of the tournament.
The S Americans have invaded Russia. Not so keen on the continual, Liverpool style booing. Poland, Belgium & England have all undergone this. Although the booing is more attractive than the bored & boring Danny Murphy. So little insight delivered in such a life sucking way. Every sentence ends with Actually. Like Lawro’s humourless nephew, actually. Henceforth, off with the sound & I’ll do my own commentaries. The prep school tones of Barry Davies for Spain & freestyle Partridge for Saudi.
If it's in England's favour to come second in the group, doesn't that mean it's just as favourable for Belgium too? Two teams trying purposely to lose a game???? How many own goals before FIFA launch an enquiry?
Somebody obviously hasn't tuned into TalkSport today. England's as good as won the World Cup, which you would know if you had...tuned in...that is.
I listened to it on the way to work this morning. Alardyce was on there talking about having too many foreign players in the Premier League. As Ashley Cole would have said, "I nearly crashed the ******* car".
Yeah 80% he said, furriners playing in the PL. How can England ever be a major player with that. He also said however there's nobody we need to fear....Germany, Brazil and Argentina are all wobbling. Our name is already on the cup according to BFS, Vinnie Jones and whoever else was invited to pipe up. England 1 Japan 2 it is then.
Yes nicely set up so that he can claim it was there for the taking but we just needed to have the right man in charge to achieve our destiny.
Is Fabian Delph the Zelig of modern football? England's biggest ever tournament win? He's there at the whistle. The best team ever to have played in the Prem? He's in it.
Ahead of their crucial match against Peru tomorrow, the Aussies, fearful of elimination, have caused a stir by calling up their much-feared striker Roo-naldo for his first international cap.
But this is the thing I think a lot of people are overlooking. Team spirit and cohesion count for an awful lot in international tournaments. From what I can see, Southgate has done brilliantly in that respect and there doesn’t seem to be any ego’s or clique’s coming to the surface. Is our squad the best? No. But I would counter that the addition of the aspects above, puts us close to other teams in the competition. We are well in the mix in this one I think.
Surely this is the sort of thing that should properly be appearing in my Scrapes Wot Us 'Orns Have Got Ourselves Into thread. Maybe it needs resurrecting. Mmmmm...
He's lost his cheekiness. His tone is now haunted as if he's undergoing existential crisis. He might be sitting next to Alan Green in Nizhni Novgorod but something even bigger is squeezing in on the other side of him. Fear of his own mortality.
Cracking idea for a thread. Btw, odd that some LFC affiliated body have chosen to archive the Murphy piece. Fortunate for us, I suppose.
