http://football.guardian.co.uk/rumourmill/index/0,,2257759,00.html Could be good but bot sure with McAnuff now on form
Would be an excellent signing - I'm guessing it would be loan with a view to making it permenant if we go up. Another one in the Johnson/Davenport type category who can potentially step up if given the chance but also more than capable at Championship level.
Shame on McAnuff as he has been playing well last couple of months. But then again Johnson and McSheffery will probably / do have more end product which is my only real annoyance with McAnuff. But you cant fault Jobi's work rate, pace, dribbling(running with the ball) for all you smart arses :]]
i would continue playing mcanuff and smith, until one of them starts having a dip in form. would be a good signing, and he can also play upfront.
C+P from The Guardian Rumour Mill As it is easy to miss unless you read the whole article. And in other news, Rafa BenÃtez is having a long hard, look at himself and Brazilian defender Rafinha; Steve Bull, who is so Black Country it hurts, will be Stafford Rangers' new manager and Gary McSheffrey is off to Watford.
Would be interesting to see who Aidy swaps around if we were to get McSheffery but at the moment im happy with McAnuff and Smithy.
We already have a back-up right winger, his name is Lionel Ainsworth! No thanks, while McShitfrey may be a good player, he is also a c**t that use to play for sh*t town! I seem to remember at Highfield Rd a few seasons ago when he ran along the away section with his hand cupped to his ear to taunt us! Little pr*ck.
While nobody likes sc*m town Mr Bubble, if a player is going to help improve our sqad, then I am all for him signing. He is proven at this level and would make a value addition, even though I am starting to enjoy watching Jobi recapture is Crystal Palace form.
Smith days could be numbered then if he does join as McAnuff has recently proved in the past few games what a good player he is and no way should he be dropped. I would say Smith and McAnutt should stay on the wings now until one plays rubbish for a while, if McSheffrey was to jon, it would be as an attacker, possibly up front with Ellington at home and Hendo away.
Why would Smith's days be numbered? He's been by far our best and most consistent player this season...
Indeed he has, that is why i said could, as McAnuff has also proved in the last few games what a good player he is and so he might have to fight it out for a place instead of being automatic choice.
I am a big fan of Muff, but Smith is a better player overall with a cracking cross on him. If we could clone Muff's ball skills with Smith's amazing shielding and crossing we could have an ultra-hybrid winger. The world would be ours.
C+P From Birmingham Site: - Name: Gary McSheffrey Nationality: English Date of Birth: 13/08/1982 Height: 5' 8" (173cm) Weight: 10st 6lbs (66.28kg) Previous Clubs: Coventry City, Luton Town (loan), Stockport (loan) Position: Midfielder Gary McSheffrey joined Blues from Midlands neighbours Coventry in August 2006 for a substantial fee. The striker had been a long time target of boss Steve Bruce, who put in no less than four bids for the player, before finally capturing him. The former England under 20 international has an abundance of pace and excellent technical ability and can play on either the left of midfield or as an outright striker. He finished the 2005/06 season as top scorer for Micky Adams' Coventry side with 17 goals from the left flank. He repeated this goalscoring feat in his first season at Blues where he was the leading scorer with 16 goals. McSheffrey is a product of Coventry's Academy and prior to moving to St. Andrew's he spent his entire career with his hometown club, except for loan spells at Luton Town and Stockport County. Following his Coventry debut as a 16-year-old, McSheffrey went on to make a total of 162 appearances for the Sky Blues and scored 53 goals. Lets hope the Gardian have got it right, as he would be a good addition, be it just on loan, or preferably with an option to buy!!!
What most of you are missing is the fact McScuff can't cross or shoot. All be it the shooting is getting fractionally better, but is still poor. McSheffery would be a great player I feel, definately head and shoulders above Jobi.
We've got two wide men who on the whole appear to offer little goal threat, and can't take set-pieces. You can't play with wingers who don't wade in with at least 8-10 goals each; both McSheffrey and AJ offer this.
Shef is a genuine left footer and goal scorer - Muff is not. Any suggestion that Smudger would be under pressure is laughable.
What a Bounder ... must have really hurt your feelings IMO would be an excellent signing, have no problems with ex-LT players provided they improve our squad.
Rather than attempting to wind me up, why don't you do something useful, like see how fast you can drive into a brick wall....
Correct. Apparently he's a 'married man'...how can a married man be online at 1am and not in bed with his wife? I smell bulls**t...either that or his missus is on the game!
Anyway, i'd much rather have Adam Johnson than this clown! If we can't get AJ, then stick to what we have!!
A loan bid was rejected.. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...y.var.2059922.0.mcsheffrey_swoop_rejected.php
It's called working a nightshift ... I suppose the only time you need to do one is when one your Southampton Sailor Boys wants a few extras.
