The ace of Paphos and their top scorer (25 goals), aroused the interest of Watford and will join their academies. "It's an opportunity for what I want to be. I thank the Pafos family for this opportunity," he emphasized among other things. The update of the Paphi team and his statements: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=414177331244242 Sounds like it's a done deal from the Facebook video as the player himself says he's joining the Watford academy. Scored 25 goals from Pafos FC U19 (agent Giaretta in full effect)
If he was any good you'd hope that at 19 he'd already have a senior appearance for frigging Paphos FC. So as per his statement surely he's just an Academy squad filler. Having said that, how is he getting a work permit? Surely it would be very odd to waste a limited non WP qualifying spot on a relatively low profile player for the academy? If he just sits in the academy does he not use up a spot (I'm aware this is probably unlikely)? He's actually Latvian rather than Cypriot and the season before was in the reserves of Riga FC who play in the Latvian second tier. Moving from the Latvian second tier to the youth team of a Cypriot club is already a strange transfer.
Will play an important part of our inevitable march towards European footie in the next couple of years
